My SD said that it always used to be sung, anyone know how to get ahold of it? Preferably on itunes! As in, who has done a good rendition of it etc.
Actually, it was always whispered silently, and never said or sung aloud, until the Novus Ordo.My SD said that it always used to be sung, anyone know how to get ahold of it? Preferably on itunes! As in, who has done a good rendition of it etc.
My former pastor used to sing it occasionally – it was absolutely beautiful – and you could feel the level of prayerful concentration in the church. My SD said that it always used to be sung, anyone know how to get ahold of it? Preferably on itunes! As in, who has done a good rendition of it etc.
Here is what the GIRM says on the subject:52.] 53.] While the Priest proclaims the Eucharistic Prayer “there should be no other prayers or singing, and the organ or other musical instruments should be silent”,132 except for the people’s acclamations that have been duly approved, as described below.
This is the tail end of #147 in the GIRM.It is very appropriate that the priest sing those parts of the Eucharistic Prayer for which musical notation is provided.
I wasn’t sung. It was chanted. My SD said that it always used to be sung, anyone know how to get ahold of it? Preferably on itunes! As in, who has done a good rendition of it etc.
I think you’re talking about the prayers like the Gloria, the Credo & the Sanctus. But the EP? It was silent, even at High Masses. Please correct but…
The old mass, if it was a high mass, was chanted except for the silent bit.
The new mass can be chanted from top to bottom but I rarely hear it chanted.
