What does that have to do with charitable organizations being unable to foot the medical bills of uninsured people? We aren’t talking fancy cars or houses for the poor - we’re talking basic medical care that could be way, way cheaper than it presently is. The only question is whether we as a society care enough to make things right. That’s really all it amounts to. The rest is just static.
There is no way it will be way, way cheaper with the government running things.

I don’t want the government deciding how to be “charitable” with my money. Some people think supporting abortion with tax dollars is charitable. Government charity is not charity.
Then you support everyone paying for their own insurance or paying a penalty! That’s not charity, that’s personal responsibility.

It’s not about what the “fired up” people on either side think. It’s about what the people think who are busy watching reality TV. They are the ones who will decide, not the rabid base of either side.
You mean the democrats?

And it is about who is fired up. Look at any election in recent history. Motivation is always a key. The polls are essentially deadlocks the day the decision is announced. A few votes either way will determine the victor. What drives those votes is what remains to be seen.

In any event, they are do-gooding with money that has not even been printed yet. They are do-gooding with their children’s futures.
Children’s futures of what? Gimme mine, gimme more, gimme now, gimme only, gimme everything? Children ARE the future - hopefully one that is gentler, kinder and more realistic.

I used to work for a company that had 300 employees and I paid $40 a week for my healthcare premium. I now work for a company that has 62,000 employees and I pay $15 for better coverage. Larger pool of paying clients, cheaper coverage.

Then you support everyone paying for their own insurance or paying a penalty! That’s not charity, that’s personal responsibility.
It’s not a penalty, it’s a tax, remember. So now tax is considered charity?

Penalty, tax…it still forces people to pay their own insurance. There is NO charity involved if they are paying their own insurance.

This is just liberal fantasy talk. Iits defeat may have made this more likely. How is this going to lead to even more sweeping legislation, especially with Congress having seen a conservative shift.

Please explain how this will make a new bill (assuming that is what you mean) more likely?

Unless you are saying upholding Obamacare makes Obamacare more likely, which makes no sense to even post.
I didn’t know that the health of a nation has a political(liberal or conservative) passport. 🤷

Ahh, you are from Mass. Now it all makes sense 😃

(That was a joke, and in no way intended as an actual slam)
Yeah, I have Romney Care, you know, by the man who’s running against Obama.

Thank God I have it too. Lost my job last year and my COBRA payments were $1400 per month. Now, it’s $232 and the coverage is great.

Thank You Governor Romney. 🙂

Nor do you know how to anser a question apparently. What does this post even mean in response to an asked question? I made no mention of ideology or passports. I asked you to explain how this paved the way to UHC?

I am gloating with another broken Obama promise. He spent almost 2 years to foist on the American middle class and the poor the largest tax increase in modern American history.
It’s not a tax increase, regardless of how try to spin it.

Jim

Nor any involved if they are forced to pay a tax, right?
Charity = tax

tax = (forcibly paid) charity!

I guess I no longer have to volunteer at the homeless shelter or Habitat for Humanity.

I didn’t know 3rd grade math was spin.

Those who chose not to have insurance will see their taxes go up. Good selling that notion to voters - it is going to be plastered on ads from now until November, and even if it wasn;t true, which it is, people will believe what they are told. That’s how Obama got elected.

Okay, let’s debunk this dubious argument about the so-called 47 million uninsured.

One more time, let’s break down this 47 million uninsured.

There are not 47 million Americans who are uninsured or cannot get insurance.

Of the so-called 47 million who are uninsured:
  • 5.2 million (or 11%) are illegal aliens
  • 5 million (or 11%) are legal immigrants
so that’s, over 10 million or 22% who are not Americans*.

Then we have individuals earning more than $75,000/year (who can afford a policy) which constitutes 9 million.

So we are almost at 20 million of the so-called phoney 47 million.

Now we have another 9.7 or roughly 10 million people who are eligible for programs, but for reasons of their own knowing, choose ***not ***to participate.

Well gee! That’s almost 30 million people

Then we have people eligible for employer-sponsored insurance but choose not to sticking with their temp insurance and when they are without insurance it is for a short period roughly 4 months)…that’s another 6 million

So no we have 35 million of the uninsured…or 75 percent

Then we have 12 million long-term who apparently cannot get insurance and are not eligible.

THAT’S 12 MILLION OUT OF 300 MILLION! SO WE’RE ARE GOING TO DESTROY THE SYSTEM THAT COVERS 288 MILLION IN ORDER TO INSURE 12 MILLION AMERICANS WHO CAN’T BE HELPED :mad::mad:
Your out of touch.

When people lose their jobs, they lose their health insurance unless they can afford to pay the COBRA payments. Mine were $1400 per month. I couldn’t afford it, but thankfully, I have Romney Care.

Also, the 47 million was used before the 2008 crash and 9 million were put out of work.
