How does that work, and does it cover your whole family?
The way it works is, for whatever reason, you have no insurance. So you fill out an application which includes your earnings for the previous six months and what you project to earn in the next six months. You include yourself, your spouse and children.
They then determine how much you’ll have to pay of yourself. Once approved, you go on the internet or through the agency we applied through, and you have a choice of five different private health insurance companies to chose from. They have different cost and different deductibles, so you decide which one fits your family best. Then, you sign up with the company of your choice. It goes into effect when they receive your payment, which can be done on line or by mail. We have it automatically paid with our credit card.
The company we chose, Network Health, has been excellent and I’ve already had some health issue to deal with and the deductible was the same as what I had with my employer.
It’s not government insurance, as many people think, but private insurance that you pay for on your own. However, because there are 50,000 people in the pool, it drives the premiums down, so they’re affordable.
FYI, if your income level is too low, you go to Medicare, which isn’t Romney Care nor Obama Care, and has been before, but you use to have to be on welfare.
