All the LGBTQ, XYZ people should live as one big happy family… on an island. Then in 40 years they will be headed for extinction, since they don’t procreate. We may have to leave out the B’s from the group, though!

It would be like Sodom & Gomorra in the Bible.

Adam & Steve never would have lasted too long, to multiply & fill the earth. . 😛
Precisely.

The whole purpose of government is to safeguard the society; and the purpose of society is to safeguard generational propagation.

Homosexuality is inimical to generational propagation. It can only weaken the society.

But that has been forgotten in the halls of power.

How do you pronounce LGBTQ? Also, is it allowed to spell it alphabetically as: BGLQT?
Does it have to be spelled out in rainbow colors? Did the House fund the light bill for the WH light show? So many questions that go unanswered. As an example, what does the “Q” stand for? and I have no idea who the XYZ people are.
Come on, you can guess what the “Q” stands for. The XYZ stands for whatever other odd -ball conditions they come up with. 😉

So are post menopausal women, the infertile, the impotent, people who choose not to have children, etc, etc, etc.

Perhaps they should all be shipped off that island someone suggested in an earlier post so they can just die off and stop being “inimical” to our societies reproductive rates.

What will be the next Supreme Court ruling

Making it legal to commit adultery and have more than one wife?

Making it legal to steal as long as you have a worthy cause?

Making it legal to murder if it is the only solution?

They may as well re - write the 10 Commandments!

Not the same thing, you should know that.Basic biology in play here.

Haven’t read through the entire thread, but I’m not sure if people realize the grave implications this has for the Church. I’m afraid the fallout will be as something we’ve never witnessed before, nor do we want to.

Why wouldn’t polygamy follow as being legal in the future? What would be the basis for denying its recognition?

I think there are a lot of people that would disagree with that notion of government. That doesn’t seem like a very liberal idea of why the government should exist, which I’m thinking would be to protect individuals and their rights rather then to secure some kind of greater good of society.

Disneyland and the White House just happened to have rainbow colored light bulbs on hand? Obviously, there was some pre-planning involved.
I don’t know about those other buildings but I’m an annual pass holder at Disney and they light up the castle in very many colors nightly. I’m 100% confident they had the colors on hand, no preplanning necessary.

I don’t think that the U.S. Constitution says that polygamists can’t marry. Or that polygamy is wrong. I don’t think that there’s a basis (based on this logic), which says that a person can’t marry a close family member, either. Pretty much anything goes now. Or it will in the future I believe.

Love wins. No, there is no reason whatsoever not to legalize polygamy. You would be surprised at how many gay marriage supporters openly acknowledge this and are ok with polygamy moving forward. I think incest, adult/children relationships, that kind of thing will be on the fringe, but viewed more openly. The goal posts will keep moving. For some that was actually the point. However you fulfill yourself; what is love to you? that is the key. You have a right to that.

The people you enumerate would “die off” in any case.

That is different from promoting a **choice **that is inimical to the whole purpose of having a society.

Agreed. Since marriage has been legally redefined and I would expect will become more ambiguous, ie become largely meaningless, would seem to me to be hypocritical to limit any configuration conceived by consenting adults and considered by said adults as “marriage”

If the individual is to be supreme, arguably it would be better not to form a civic society at all.

The premise behind civic society is that individuals are not supreme.

Now that marriage has been turned on its ear, what justification could there be for **not ** admitting polygamy?

Why is polygamy disallowed now? Because it flew in the face of Christian-based public morality in the 1800s. But that bus just sailed.

Pedophiles will be claiming that this is just another sexual orientation just like heterosexuality and homosexuality. If they are legally recognized then there is no reason why pedophilia is not legally recognized as well.

Currently they are claiming protected status under the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act that was passed in 2009 by the liberal Democratic Congress and signed into law by Barack Obama.

Pedophiles are proclaiming protected status already? Wow. I hadn’t heard of that. That’s very disturbing, but not surprising, really.

Conservatives delighted in Scott…
Not sure this is true, unless you want to completely separate “conservative” from its traditional association with the Republican Party and completely divorce “progressive” from its consistent linkage to the Democratic Party.

Now, perhaps you are a Democrat and wish to hide the tainted history of that party under fanciful notions such as “progressives have always been right” in their consistent march towards the betterment of society and conservatives always wrong in trying to maintain traditional ways, but the undisputed fact is that the Republicans didn’t “delight” in Scott, the Democrats did - well for a time.

The truth is that the Dred Scott vs Stanford was called the “worst decision ever” by Republicans and welcomed by the majority of Democrats. The Democrat President-elect James Buchanan likely influenced the decision through his connection with three justices of the Supreme Court.

This may dispel some misconceptions…
