Was NAMBLA started with the help of a Roman Catholic priest?Did anyone notice a NAMBLA float in the New York parade?
Sorry, it was started by a homosexual Trotskyite Socialist named David Thorstad in the late 1970s, and was allied with several other homosexual organizations for many years. It was the first US organization to join the International Lesbian and Gay Association, and remained a member until 1994.Was NAMBLA started with the help of a Roman Catholic priest?
I thought I read somewhere that the Roman Catholic priest, Father Paul Shanley was present at the conference where this organization was started?Sorry, it was started by a homosexual Trotskyite Socialist named David Thorstad in the late 1970s, and was allied with several other homosexual organizations for many years. Maybe he was there as a priest and pastor to exercise ministry. Hear confessions?I actually spent the time to track this down, and actually, they didn’t. There was a person near the float who was attired that way at some point (small pic here) but absolutely no one on the float was dressed that way. What was Fr. Morris doing at a pride parade anyway? His twitter account doesn’t explain that. Couldn’t that have been an occasion of causing scandal to attend one or be seen at one especially when clearly attired as an RC priest?
A pedophile is a person with exclusive or almost exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent girls and boys. You mean the North American Man/Boy Love Association - the pedophile advocacy organization? No, I hope they weren’t there. But Im sure there are some who would be willing to add a ‘P’ to make it the LGBTQP community one day.
…I mean it’s not fair for only some to come out of the closet. Surely everyone should ‘come out’.

That’s odd…they used to be very prominent in all the Gay Pride parades.NAMBLA had no float in the NYC Pride Parade nor in any other city.
And from that you derived that NAMBLA was started by a Roman Catholic priest (a quick investigation on Google would have cleared things up for you)?I thought I read somewhere that the Roman Catholic priest, Father Paul Shanley was present at the conference where this organization was started?

I remember a year or so back some evangelicals were reading the Bible out loud at a gay pride event in Seattle (and quite possibly shouting provocative phrases) and the whole thing turned into a pretty nasty pushing and shoving match. No one was seriously hurt but the cops had to intervene. I am well aware of pretty rampant and open hostility to Christians amongst a few activist gays that I know. I’ve felt the chill. I would say that they are in the minority though.
- They put a float in a parade where that kind of attire is accepted, commonplace, and promoted. That is sinful to even be associated with such a parade.
- How is a priest walking on the street a cause of scandal?
I did not say that. And from that you derived that NAMBLA was started by a Roman Catholic priest (a quick investigation on Google would have cleared things up for you)?
No.Was NAMBLA started with the help of a Roman Catholic priest?
But you did ask this:I did not say that.
And in light of the article you sited, I’m not sure how you came to ask such a question or even think such a thing???Was NAMBLA started with the help of a Roman Catholic priest?
Because of the articleBut you did ask this:

I would have waited until I actually received a SSM license before resigning. It looks like they’re acting out of pique rather than conviction.Decatur County clerk, employees resign over same-sex ruling

Apparently, that decision would set you up for a lawsuit from the bonding agency.I would have waited until I actually received a SSM license before resigning. It looks like they’re acting out of pique rather than conviction.
This is not the article which you originally produced, moreover, the file which you mentioned was filled with allegations which were unsubstantiated or rather undocumented, here is the full paragraph from the article:Because of the article
The Passion Of Father Paul Shanley By JoAnn Wypijewski
which states: “Shanley’s file… indicate Shanley was a founding member of the North American Man/Boy Love Association.”
legalaffairs.org/issues/September-October-2004/feature_wypijewski_sepoct04.msp
SO MUCH OF WHAT IS PUBLICLY KNOWN ABOUT PAUL SHANLEY has its origin in a two-and-a-half-hour press conference that MacLeish (Macleish was the victims’ lawyer) held in April 2002. That event, televised live in Boston, showcased Ford’s recovered memories and featured, as evidence of the priest’s moral corruption, a PowerPoint presentation of strategically edited excerpts from a 1,600-page personnel file that the archdiocese had kept on Shanley, and that it released only after MacLeish and the press sued for access.
Following that press conference, it was reported that Shanley’s file reveals a 30-year pattern of accusations of sexual abuse, cover-ups, and transfers of the priest from parish to parish. That they contain an admission by Shanley of rape as well as the results of a psychiatric examination showing that “his pathology is beyond repair.” That they indicate Shanley was a founding member of the North American Man/Boy Love Association. That they show he left St. Jean’s in 1989 because of sex abuse charges, and was transferred to California although the church knew he was a child molester. **Those claims, repeatedly recycled, created a portrait of the priest as criminal before any legal charge was made. Not one of them is supported by documents in the file. **
In other words, Shanley was not a founding member of NAMBLA.At his 2002 PowerPoint show, MacLeish projected a sentence from a 1979 account from Gaysweek that read, “At the end of the conference, 32 men and two teenagers caucused and formed the Man Boy Lovers of North America.” The suggestion or assertion that Shanley was among the 32 has been repeated in the press many times since. But Shanley wasn’t part of that group, say a Catholic priest and Protestant minister who were.
Well, we don’t always get what we want in life. We must take up our crosses and bear the accordingly. If by “traditional” you mean between a man and a woman which by your posts I will just assume you do, then indeed. Nothing in the new definition forbids that. My suggestion in fact would be for 2 people of opposite sexes who love each other so much that they can’t stand the thought of not being together the rest of their lives, to go for it.
No. NAMBLA has not been welcome to participate since the 1970s.That’s odd…they used to be very prominent in all the Gay Pride parades.
