survey Mary is God? yes or no?

I’ll let other’s respond to your recent post. My quick thoughts when I see comments like yours or hear things from our leaders, I realize as a Catholic that I’m taking the comments from the perspective of how to give Mary honor. I realize from an outsider’s viewpoint and the way outsider’s take comments like these that they view it as worshipping Mary and make her equal to God.

When we say Mary is “Co-Redemptrix”, I realize as a Catholic that this does not mean Mary is equal to God in any way. In the same thought, I know others outside of the faith do not see or hear, or have the same understanding as I do.

I love it when those outside the faith try to explain what they see or hear. NOT!!! :banghead:

It is ironic that when a Christian quotes the Quran or a Muslim they are immediately rebuked for not understanding the true meaning or taking the statement out of context, but when a Muslim does the same it is proof positive of the truth of Islam and of the misguided ignorance of Christianity.

You must remember that Muslims have been taught and pious Muslims believe that Islam is by definition the correction of both Christianity and Judaism and is always right. Never are they wrong, in their eyes, nor could they ever be. Dialogue is virtually fruitless on any basic level. Pray for the conversion of Islam and all Muslims to the True faith.

I see that many of our Catholic Brethren reacted to my post, treating what I stated as being ignorant and yes it was ignorant because I added the word ONLY.
Now I remove the word ONLY and rewrite my statement: “*Catholics have the *firm belief that prayers will be answered when made through Mary” Is this statement still correct? Do Catholics have that firm belief and conviction?

They will be answered if they are in accord with the will of God.

St. Mary is most assuredly not God nor does she want to be. She is the Mother of God (Theotokos) and ever virgin. It is idolatry to assume that she can redeem mankind. She can however intercede for us in and ask God mercy for our salvation. This is what we pray for her to do on our behalf. Jesus Christ can still be influenced by His glorified earthly mother who sits at His right hand. Christ does not minimize his love for His mother simply because He is with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
 
Well by golly, you’re right - you guessed our secret.

We Catholics do worship Mary but we keep it a secret and never admit to it :banghead:

To demonstrat that the Koran is wrong. Scriptures and Church teach that Jesus is God, neither teach that Mary is God, and the Koran missed on both counts.

I can guarantee that you will find absolutely NO Catholic on the face of the planet, with even the most basic knowledge of Catholic doctrine, who will say that Mary is God. Anyone who does is guilty of heresy, and the Church will very quickly, emphatically, and comprehensively say as much.

Actually there are Catholic on the planet who beleive this. There is a group of Bishops in ther Philippeans who are promoting this and they say that is the third secret of Fatima and the Popes have been covering this up. I hear this group is growing too. They seem really wacko. It is called the Mary is God Catholic Movement. You can find them on the internet. It is disturbing.
 
Hi Joseph_Alison, none of those quotes come from the time period that the koran was compiled or delivered so they are irrelevent to proving the koran is not in error.

Offically, the catholic church has never taught that Mary is God.

Your quotes are from people that even catholics say went too far.

Who are these group of bishops? No one in the CBCP would even endorse something like that; it is simply unthinkable. If such a movement does exist, though, the CBCP should be told about it, and the faithful warned about such a move by some misguided groups.
 
Not only is Mary NOT God, she can’t be!! Jesus was conceived by the HOLY SPIRIT and Mary was not. She can be the Mother of God, which she is. Enough said.
