Alright, this is a little embarrassing, but lately when I take Holy Communion, I get this swell of emotion that is like a mix of joy/hope/sadness. Weird, I know. Has anyone else felt this way? I don’t know if God is trying to tell me something or not.

Only every week lately. At the mass, since we are in the upper room, in the garden, at the Praetorium, standing at the foot of the cross and at the tomb, we should experience the same range of emotions as those who were there. This is both normal and wonderful. When I look at the crucifix and ask “Is my soul worth this much?”, the tears just flow. Nothing embarrassing at all.

It’s a lovely thing and a gift from God. Don’t think that you should always have these feelings, however. God may choose to withdraw them at any time, and for His own reasons. Lack of feeling is just as normal as a swell of emotion. When that happens, just tell God, “Thy will be done.”

it is a gift! One that will likely not last forever…so enjoy it while you have it. I experienced something similar during the Agnus Dei for a period of time… I miss it, sometimes

I swell up before communion when saying “Lord, I am not worthy to recieve you, but only say the word and I shall be healed” I was not in full communion with the church for a few years, and could not recieve communion, and when the Lord can’t “say the word” and you know you are not worthy…ouch. Then, to be in full communion again is so SWEET! Mine are usually tears of humility and joy that the Lord will be with me, and that after all the sins of my own hands:eek:…he will be in my hands. And all the sins of my lips:crying:…he will be there, too. God bless you. You are not alone!! I am happy to have you all for my brothers and sisters. I get a little miffed that I don’t see more people get emotional!! I’m working on that…🤷

It’s normal, some people do, it is a Gift from the Lord, enjoy it 😉

I experience something similar during the Consecration and at Benediction (as we receive the Blessing with the Host within the Monstrance), however I cry, tears of joy and humility as i realise, “Lord I was not worth thy sacrifice, but for your love of me, and the world, you suffered humiliation, death and the torment of hades as you released the lost sheep, and now, you perpetually give us yourself in this, thy most holy Sacrament”
