Well, hopefully something is done. I will pray about this.
I was in Denver in 1993 and I had no idea. This is the first that I have heard of it. Do you know who those people were? This story is sad, but nothing surprising.
I remember the Denver World Youth Day, back in 1993 (JPII),
and the Pope was greeted by a handsome young black youth (about 18 or 19 years old), and an attractive young lady about the same age.
The TODAY SHOW on NBC later interviewed the young man, and of course, the church’s moral teachings on abortion and homosexuality came up. And guess what? The young man, a “Catholic,” did NOT share the Church’s views on these matters.
A lot of Catholic youth have received very, very, very POOR catechesis. And/or, they simply want to be “with it” and reject the teachings of the church when it suits their fancy to do so.
We need to pray and pray hard for young Catholics, because the world’s way seems the most easy, friendly, and tolerant, hence generous (which young people like), when the reality is that the world’s views are ungodly and demonic. We need to pray for grace for our young Catholics.

Have you never read what St. Paul says in Romans 1:24-27?Perhaps you need to do a little more research. Cardinal Pell is in charge of WYDSYD08 and the Aux Bishop assisting is Bishop Anthony Fisher OP, both are very orthodox. Bishop Fisher is world authority on bioethics and led the stem cell deabtes in Australia, from the Catholic perspective.
The song won because it was the best, not becuase of the views of the songwriter.
Bishops do not need enemies when the faithful are so quick to judge.
Instead prayer for the success of WYDSYD08, Bishop Fisher asked for prayers last week, there are plenty of forces at work trying to destroy the event - temporal and spiritual.
Yea nice, this is great, WYD is all about openess and accepting people for who they are, regardless of their opinions, treating people how they should be treated, so that our actions convert them, your whole post is contrary to that.No offense to this Idol winner and how “good” he is, WYD is a Catholic program and does not need to have a song by an artist that openly supports gay marriage.
Maybe the organizers of WYD should take a few notes from our faithful Arch-Bishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis, MO who took a stance against Sheryl Crow and her stance on abortion and stem cell research.
Sorry I completely disagree with this Idol winner writing the theme song.
I don’t think the good Lord intended the anal cavity to be used for sex.Guy Sebastian, actually is a gem of a Christian
Indeed. We should keep an open heart to him and pray for his conversion.
Does you version of “reserve judgment” include calling us fundamentalists. Please reserve your judgment.
It’s not pastoral to confirm someone in their sin. This stuff that you fools are claiming to adhere to is also known as discrimination.
There’s a connection between who we are and what we do.Just because he supports gay marriage, it automatically makes his Christian music which has nothing to do with gay marriage unacceptable. That is ********.
Really? Read the Catechism on homosexuality my good friend.Yea nice, this is great, WYD is all about openess and accepting people for who they are, regardless of their opinions, treating people how they should be treated, so that our actions convert them, your whole post is contrary to that.![]()
Quoting mindlessly just further proves your inability to comprehend.Really? Read the Catechism on homosexuality my good friend.
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are** intrinsically disordered**."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
It’s not pastoral to confirm someone in their sin.
Again, this about role model and example. The Song is irrelevant. The WYD song has NOTHING to do with homosexuality. My post was in regardance to acceptance of people for who they are, not accepting is pushing them away.
And nor does it state that we should stand around let the whole world burn. The Church never states to push people away.
So because I reaffirm the Church’s teachings that makes me intolerant? ROFTL.Stay away from quoting, let alone quoting Canon Law if you can’t make a distinction.
Need I say that Jesus said, that if someone gives scandal and causes others to sin that we are to purge them from our mist.I NEVER said homosexuality should be approved. Not once, I said we have to ACCEPT people, not their acts, bring them closer to God by treating them as we do others. Don’t make me quote the Bible now to support this, I presume you know what I speak of.
This is not about the song. Stop sidestepping the issue. The song is for GOD and youths around the world. I’m sure the Vatican looked into this before approving it.
Your issues are not w/ me but with the Church’s teaching. So unless you wish to argue with the Vatican…go find another hobby.
