Does he really have in mind those not trendy enough to be trophies and designer accessories, we ask ourselves.

*Three serious challenges that foster an “anti-family” mentality, he continued, are “individualism and emotional fragility,” “lack of faith,” and “economic insecurity and social exclusion.”

The upcoming Synod on the family, he said, is called to give “authoritative and shared” answers to these challenges as the Church rediscovers “the art of accompaniment.”*

‘Emotional fragility’ is a funny translation. I suppose he is citing the lack of resilience in the face of troubles.

I think that’s part of it, although it’s hard to tell from the brief excerpt:
“Three serious challenges that foster an “anti-family” mentality, he continued, are “individualism and emotional fragility,” “lack of faith,” and “economic insecurity and social exclusion.””

My personal experience with a number of people has been not only an increasing emphasis on individualism which makes them fear marriage, but a certain over-sensitivity to any perceived criticism, which is also a detriment to marriage and relationships.

I’ve known some people recently employed in retail who take offense at every irate customer, but the best customer service is provided by ignoring such things. One need not take every sharp word or raised voice as personal affront. I may be completely wrong here, but that’s the first thing that came to mind when he mentions “emotional fragility.” There seems to be a lot of it going around.
