Syrian Observatory for Human Rights becomes Daesh’s next cyber victim
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, has become its next victim in Daesh’s propaganda war.
The Observatory’s website was taken offline on Wednesday, after Daesh (ISIS) supporters who referred to themselves as the “Cyber Army of the Khalifah (Caliphate)” hacked into the site.
The extremists posted a photo and Arabic text threatening Observatory Director Rami Abdul-Rahman. The doctored image showed Abdul-Rahman kneeling down by a Daesh militant in an orange jumpsuit.
It’s not the first time the SOHR has been threatened. The monitor’s previously received similar threats from the Syrian regime and al-Qaeda, AFP reported.
“We will continue to do our work and document what is happening in Syria,” Abdul-Rahman told AFP.

The Syrian Human Rights Observatory is often quoted as a source in stories about Syria.

ISIS does so many things that are shameful. I wonder about why they would care though maybe some stories aggravate them; such as ISIS losing battles.

Note, the headline and story “next cyber victim”, this could be a problem in translation because obviously, they have already become the victim. Albawaba may be from Saudi Arabia or some country like that.

It is not the Syrian Electronic Army that did it.

The SOHR is biased as it primarily covers the alleged atrocities committed by the Assad forces.

It’s not that simple.

Okay, Syria, the regime, may not have the ability to carry out surgical strikes so they use barrel bombs against the Rebels, possibly not ISIS in this case but other rebel groups. They may bomb a hospital and it is called an atrocity.

That’s just how the numbers line up. I don’t think it shows a bias, they report on everything.

Anyway, for all we know, the regime goes after the Rebels, other, more than ISIS meaning the regime may be treating ISIS favorably. That should be reported.

I don’t know of anyone who said they did. The article says Daesh did it, that is ISIS.
I knew Daesh equals ISIS. I meant to say “at least the Syrian Electronic Army wasn’t implicated”. It just seemed like a stunt the Syrian Electronic Army would try to pull as it fits their modus operandi.
