Supposedly, Pope Francis told us and our parishes to accept Syrian families. Let’s discuss that.
The US was at least partly responsible for the problems in the mideast. George Bush invaded Iraq and signed papers to leave too early. Both of these decisions by Bush helped to create the turmoil in the region. People in Syria are fleeing ISIS, which was created with the goal of ridding the area of westerners or crusaders as they called it. Some Republicans claim that ISIS was created because of the unwise intervention and decisions of America.Supposedly, Pope Francis told us and our parishes to accept Syrian families. By looking at the pics of all the refugees seems most of the “families” are all young men. They seem to have left their wives and children behind.Supposedly, Pope Francis told us and our parishes to accept Syrian families. Let’s discuss that.
Are you suggesting that parishes, religious communities, and monasteries in the US should take in this many people? How would you suggest they do that? The US should take in at least 500,000 mideastern refugees now and continue at that annual rate as needed for the next few years to assist Europe in this humanitarian crisis.
Indeed, some of the pictures I see are all men. But searching Google images for Syrian refugees in Hungary turned up many others that contradict your statement.By looking at the pics of all the refugees seems most of the “families” are all young men. Of course they are, how else can you turn a red state blue? Why can’t Saudi Arabia help? A lot of the ****** things we do in the middle east are done at their behest. I have head that they already have air conditioned tents that will hold 3 million people, which they use for hajj pilgrims. They have made no offers of aid with the exception of an offer to fund the construction of mosques in European countries that have none.
Also, they are planning on putting the bulk of these refugees in 'red states" just like they are doing with the illegals surging over from Mexico. Kind of suspicious to me . . .
I am not going to take any in. Mark my words there will be no go zone in the USA just like there are all over europe.Tom, it seems that a huge number of your posts are about how awful the USA is.
This is not appropriate, nor is it really reflective of sound reasoning.
I also don’t see you volunteering to take in refugees.
By following the example of Germany which has taken in 850,000 people so far.Are you suggesting that parishes, religious communities, and monasteries in the US should take in this many people? How would you suggest they do that?
No one seems to object when people complain about how awful the US Supreme court is in its various decisions such as SSM. No one objects when people complain about the American system of justice which locks up an individual who refuses to grant SS marriage licenses. But supposedly there is something wrong about reading the news and seeing that Rand Paul has stated that the American Republican Hawks created ISIS. These refugees are fleeing from ISIS which, according to Rand Paul, is a creation of American Republicans. Before George Bush invaded Iraq, I did not hear anything about refugees fleeing from the area. Why is it appropriate for people to say how awful the US Supreme Court is but it is not appropriate to disagree with the decision of George Bush to invade Iraq and to leave early?Tom, it seems that a huge number of your posts are about how awful the USA is.

George Bush has embraced and kissed the prince of Saudi Arabia, but I wonder if Saudi Arabia is really a friend of the USA? I hear that they have beheaded over 100 people this year? Why can’t Saudi Arabia help? A lot of the ****** things we do in the middle east are done at their behest. I have head that they already have air conditioned tents that will hold 3 million people, which they use for hajj pilgrims. Hungary is closing its border with Serbia and from the news reports it looks like Germany will also begin border controls.I look at the awful mess Europe is in after Merkel’s mad decision to welcome everyone to Germany with no logistical planning, no housing, food, job considerations, assimilation considerations; welfare or budgetary analysis. Then when the opportunistic march from every camp in Turkey and the surrounding safe havens start to flood Greece, Hungary and all the other countries who cannot afford such largess, Germany closes it’t borders after declaring they were only going to take skilled migrants anyway.
Australia, having secured it borders against the smuggler’s trade, has accepted 12,000 Christian refugees from UN sanctioned camped with full health, security and other checks. Our authorities are preparing budgets for such planned and gradual assimilation of like minded people in need with the proper planning done before any intake.
Real compassion is demanded of us not just by our Pope but our Lord and we cannot walk upon the other side of the road. Our own souls demand the maintainance of our honour.
However, the chaos of open borders, deluded people on a long march to no man’s land between ever closing borders is all that comes from the plastic compassion and the knee jerk reaction to a few pitiful pictures of dead children. No emotion without thought is a waste of time and an insult to our full humanity.
ISIS was created and supported in Afghanistan under Osama Bin Laden, long before the invasion of Iraq. These refugees are fleeing from ISIS which, according to Rand Paul, is a creation of American Republicans. Before George Bush invaded Iraq.
So you don’t agree with the Republican Rand Paul? Regardless, IS is a result of the US invasion of Iraq. Can you give us someone who referred to IS or to ISIS before the US invasion of Iraq?ISIS was created and supported in Afghanistan under Osama Bin Laden, long before the invasion of Iraq.
I suggest that you find someone other that Rand Paul to provide political theory for you. He is the consummate politician. He had Kentucky change from a primary to a caucus system so that he wouldn’t be in the violation of state law that prohibits a sitting legislator being on the ticket for two races simultaneously. He knows he will never win the presidency but he doesn’t want to give up his seat from Kentucky. Is that who you place all of your trust?
