Usually, when you hear a Protestant refer to “water baptism” you’re talking to someone who is in favor of baptism by total immersion. To them, sprinkling or pouring are not Scriptural and therefore, invalid. Most folks I speak to who specifically call it “water baptism” are either Pentecostal, or Evangelical non-denominationals.
