Talk a Woman out of Abortion in the UK? Two Years Jail

From the article: ‘Among the most familiar tactics of the abortion lobby is the accusation that crisis pregnancy centres (CPC) “lure” in pregnant women with false or misleading information refuting the assertion that an unborn child is nothing more than a “blob of cells” or “tissue”. Planned Parenthood’s Teenwire website says, “It’s common for CPCs to use misleading films, ultrasound pictures, and written materials to scare and emotionally manipulate women into continuing their pregnancies.”’

So who’s being misleading?

The harm is the one-sidedness. Abortion advocates deceive themselves and everyone who will listen that what they are doing is “offering reproductive health care services, regardless of the ability to pay.” Sounds so nice, doesn’t it? In reality, they are pushing a social agenda that pushes abortion as the solution to crisis pregnancy. Ever heard of a Planned Parenthood center that was also a state certified adoption agency?

Me either. They advertise themselves as providing women’s reproductive health care services, but they only put effort towards ONE choice.

If there is going to be a law about deception in advertising, it really ought to cut BOTH ways, not just target pro-life crisis pregnancy centers.
You should remember that you’re talking about the UK where access to the health system is free at the point of provision and where, let’s face it, subjects like abortion and contraception are hardly burning political issues. Nobody needs to go anywhere other than their local GP for contraception and the ‘morning after pill’ can be bought freely over the counter at any pharmacy.

Tales and rhetorical formulas from the ‘war with Planned Parenthood’ are not exactly relevant.

That’s awesome! Here’s why:

Civil disobdience.

Not only is it worth the 2 years in jail over, but it generates some great headlines/gets attention to the issue.
Probably just be written off as ‘religious crazies getting what they deserve’.

Here’s the bit you left out

The amendment continues, “Any person, association or body corporate shall be guilty of an offence” if they provide "material which … contains false information and is untruthful … or in its overall presentation deceives or is in any way likely to deceive the average person.…even if the information is factually correct".

The illegal information is deliberately wrong information set out to deceive and mislead.
Nope… It includes use of factual information to change a woman’s decision on carrying to term. (In either direction, from the wording quoth in the article).

Lord have mercy on them, they know not what they do…

As a matter of interest, has anybody found any information about this ‘two years’ business elsewhere than lifenews/lifesitenews (or stories/blogs derived from these sources)?

Is this a ‘Brit ate my hamster’ story?

John Bercow, who tabled the amendment, is a Conservative.
Yup! And, the Conservative leader, David Cameron, advocates the rights of parents to abort disabled fetuses… even though he has a disabled son.

The X-Y axis is very different over here.

When information is illegal. An offense will have been committed if the information given “causes or is likely to cause the average pregnant woman to take a decision in relation to the termination of her pregnancy she would not have taken otherwise.”
What about encouraging a woman to get an abortion? Telling her, “It’s just a clump of cells, we can take care of it straightaway, it’s all perfectly safe.”
