St. Therese:

"Ah! I really feel that it is not these desires (martyrdom) which make God take pleasure in my soul. What pleases Him is that He sees me loving my littleness and my poverty, the blind hope that I have in His mercy … "

St. John Vianney…enough said.

I haven’t made it through all his sermons yet, but for the most part my favorite is “The Problem of the Lukewarm soul”. I love how he is so blunt and to the point. As a college student I can’t stand to see the way some of my peers live and then declare themselves to be Christian. As I seek to become a Catholic Priest I pray that God will give me the courage to speak out like St. John Vianney. =)

God Bless.

I would have to say that those saints that inspire me the most are those who seem to have made the biggest turnarould. They seem to have tasted what life has to offer and then found there is much more than what that lifestyle can ever give. They truely seem human and give hope to all of us “sinners” who can’t seem to break with our errors that keep dragging us back down.

I don’t agree with all of St. Augustine’s theology but he certainly made a major 180 in his life. He was a regular party guy and lived for the day, but he became totally dedicated to God. I think my favorite quote by him was, “Lord grant me chasity and purity, but not just yet.” . he certainly realizied he had a ways to go.

Another was St. Ignatius of Loyola, a soldier, ladies man, pompous and filled with pride. He also made a complete turnaround in his life. Incredibly inspiring.

I would be the first 2 agree with you, knowing I’m far from perfect many times myself. We should always get up and try again though, being inspired by many of the saints that you just mentioned. I also think that all of us should never forget that Jesus in His human form, fell three times on His way to the cross for all of us. 🙂

Everything about Saint Therese’s little way fills me with inspiration and admiration. I am currently reading her autobiography for the second time. I am very much in awe of her.

I pray short prayers to Saint Therese all through my day! She reminds that I may not be able to do great things but that I can do the little things.🙂
