I think it is Italy’s right to allow provisions like this for an organization, and that the EU is interfering with a sovereign nation, although this could just be my bias as an American.

However, I bet they’re not doing anything to investigate the International Planned Parenthood Federation or Marie Stopes International, both having non-commercial status, but still operate commercially. Hypocrites!

It looks here like Italy has sold its sovreignty for thirty pieces of silver. In a way I am glad to see this news. It highlights the danger of granting international governing bodies authority over the local government. What really floors me is the idea that they want to change the law and make the change retroactive. At least in America we have a ban on ex post facto legislation.

FYI: H. Clinton is about to sign the US on to the UN Small Arms regulations after which we will likely lose our Second Amendment rights, at the least subject the Second Amendment to UN interpretation.

The EU has become the sovereign nation, and the member countries are being reduced to local partitions of that government. Inherent in the EU membership is foregoing certain rights of sovereign nations: To mint currency, to be the final arbiter of laws, and to control one’s borders.
It should only take a generation or two before Europe is seen as a nation and starts pushing for a single “state” language, to reduce the issues of worker mobility…

The article talks about tax on 100,000 properties including churches, schools, hospitals, etc. Do any of them belong to the Pope? I bet that virtually all of them belong to charitable organizations and/or dioceses and not even to the Vatican.

That can not be done, the Constitution protects our sovernity. If Clinton did sign some sort of treaty, it would then need to be ratified by the Senate and then it could be challenged on Constitutional grounds where it would lose.

From what I can find the resolution would establish common international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms. As far as I can tell, as long as the gun is made in the USA and bought in the USA then the UN resolution has no impact.

The topic of a more Catholic country (than where we live) crops up from time to time here. The usual answer has been Malta, but since that is a member of the EU, I suppose it wouldn’t offer any advantages.
How about Cape Verde? The population is 93% Catholic, the climate is moderate year round, the government is a stable and free democracy with a non-aligned foreign policy. Its a relatively poor country, seeking outside investment. And it already is a major bub for refueling airplanes and ships.
The downside is that the Prime Minister, earlier this year, announced that he will request EU membership for Cape Verde. On the other hand, no former European colony has ever been admitted to the EU and Cape Verde is 3000km (1900 miles) from the European mainland
