Did you read the beginning of the thread? AT ALL? This is a mother planning a birthday party for her EIGHT year old. Acting like love of Taylor Swift creates a person incapable of entering into a solvent marriage is ludicrous.
Yes, I did. Note that I didn’t quote the OP when I posted my first reply, meaning that it wasn’t in reply to it. Also note that I used the word “woman,” instead of girl. If you can’t tell the difference between woman and girl, then that’s not my problem.
Suggesting that a grown adult shouldn’t listen to any music is just so controlling and repressive it’s insane.
Did you I say that? You’re twisting my words. I said I wouldn’t date anyone who listens to Taylor Swift, but she’s free to listen whatever she wants - she just won’t be someone I’m interested in dating. Whether that’s her loss or mine is anybody’s guess.
I get WERS radio. After their spectacular acappela program they have a wonderful sunday and saturday afternoon program called “The playground” Music for the young and young at heart…They play Disney, wee sing, raffy, and others including taylor swift.

I know many grown women (no men though) in successful relationships and marriages who love this station. Those married who now have children share it with them.
Again, I don’t really care what you listen to.
And with all your hang ups I doubt there are very many women you are “intrested in dating”
Seriously, did someone do something to your cereals this morning? I’m doing exactly what women do - being very selective in whom I choose to date. If a woman can refuse to date a guy for any old reason, why the uproar when a guy does the same thing?

I suggest that we all should stop now before we embarrass ourselves further.

Well, you were relating it to the OP and since I’m assuming you won’t date an 8 year old then it was an implication that Taylor Swift makes a woman bad news.

I’m gonna say yours

That’s good becuase I don’t think I could swallow a friendship…or even an aquantiance where someone made such judgments about such a miniscule part of my life.

We aren’t talking about someone else. There’s selective and eliminating every woman on the face of the earth. You’ve got the threads to prove it.

The feeling is mutual, but I’m not the judgmental one here. I merely stated my own preferences, which had nothing whatsoever to do with you, and yet you felt the need to jump in and make a judgment about my dating life, which you know nothing about. If that’s not judgmental, I don’t know what is.

And for the record, did I in all my posts say anything about you? Did I make any judgments about any part of your life? No. Yet you felt comfortable making all these unfounded judgments about mine. Project much?

You seem to think that every woman in the world listens to Taylor Swift.

In any case, I’m done with this thread.

Peace.

All I did was mention your track record in regards to romance which is what YOU brought up.

No, I actually don’t. But every person has their “Taylor Swift” mine, as admitted before, is New Kids on the Block.

I AM a mom of an eight year old girl, and she loves Taylor Swift. Her lyrics are about relationships and growing up.

I think it’s fine. Now, if Taylor starts to turn into Brittney, then that’ll be over:rolleyes:

So Rascalking, are you going to scratch a girl off your list of women you would date if they don’t listen to Kiss?
LOL!

Only a few women I’ve dated have liked my music. Very few, actually.

Of course I’d date a woman who didn’t like Kiss.

However, Purplesunshine and I must end our engagement-I can’t deal with New Kids on the Block!!!

OH darn, I was hoping for an invite to the wedding. I was very interested to see how NKOTB and Kiss were going to mesh.

Who could EVER love that?!

For what it’s worth, I could watch Fantasia 33 times a day and not get bored.

purplesunshine and Rascaling ~ you two are cracking me up!! 😛

I do like a couple of Taylor Swift songs but she is not a good performer live. Her voice is too “light.” For an 8 year old I’d also recommend movie soundtracks but that’s just because I grew up during Disney’s “Renaissance” era where their movies and soundtracks were AWESOME (1988-1999…okay so this includes a lot of my teenage years 😊).

Would I mind if my 8 year old daughter liked her music? Not at all! Fergie? While I like her (I admit it, I LOVED her on the Disney show Kids Incorporated during the 1980s!) I wouldn’t let my young children listen to her music. The lyrics are just a tad bit too mature (and some of the lyrics on her songs are quite cheesy–IMO).

Some artists I’d want introduce later because I LOVE their talent (Shakira and Martina McBride immediately come to mind) but not at a young age. I wouldn’t do it to a child because he/she would be too young to understand the lyrical content and I wouldn’t want to “force” my child to grow up at a faster rate. If that makes any sense…

That’s a cartoon  didn’t you know people over 5 can’t watch cartoons  that would create a horrible time space continumium in which no one over 5 who watched them would be able to enter into any sort of binding contract!!!

That’s a great movie…SO much symphonic music.

My fav kid’s movie is Jumunji…for the 90’s it was great cynotomography, the actors were spectacular and the plot was wonderful. It also is very open ended 😃 I LOVE that.

These statements are wrong on so many levels.

  1. *]What I posted outside of this thread is irrelevant to this topic. Why you felt the need to drag it into this thread is beyond me. They’re not fodder to launch personal attacks against me in any thread I post in.
*]Are you stalking my posts online? How can you claim to know my life is beyond me. You’re just a stranger online, which is what I hope I am to you.
*]People post all sorts of things on these boards, but gives you NO right to make judgments about them the way you did. People don’t post here for your own entertainment. And to think so is disrespectful and disillusional. Are you saying that anyone who posts should beware of your judgement?
*]What you did is hitting below the belt. You’re basically making fun of everyone who’s single on these boards. You’re essentially implying that the reason why people are single is because you claim they have a “track record” in romance. I bet your single friends on these boards are thrilled to find out how you really feel about them.
*]I don’t recall offending you in any way, shape, or shape prior to this thread. You’re the one who turned this personal for no apparent reason.
*]I have tried to be as charitable as I can in this thread. And yet you keep making this personal for some reason. If you will note, I have not dragged any of your personal life into this thread, which I’m sure is so saintly and impeccable. I hope you have the decency to return the favor.

    Peace out.

Normally, I would just away from flame bait like this, but here is my attempt at having a real discussion, anyway.

First of all, Taylor Swift is young, and her music caters to teenage girls. The themes tend to be related to all the drama that teenage girls go through in high school or whatever. This is not the type of music that mature women should be listening to. If a woman - yes, woman, not girl - is interested in these immature themes, she is herself likely very immature. This is not the type of women that I’m interested in dating.

I hope that clears it up for you.
LOL Well, I’m almost 40, quite mature, live a ‘mature’ life, married with children, a teacher, quite grounded, thank you 😉 and I enjoy humming and singing along to Taylor Swift.

That’s it purplesunshine. You can no longer sit with us at the cool kids table.

(for the record, mine is Kiss)
Oh, KISS! I heart KISS! Can I sit at the cool kids table? Or do I appear too needy at this point? Hmmmm…

    1. Yes, it’s relevent. You’re posting about relationships. Your relationship status IS relevent. If you were married with grown children than your post may have had some credibility
    2. No, but there’s a few people who’s posts are so ludicrious they stand out. You’re one of them.
    3. Yes, anyone who posts should be aware that EVERYONE else is going to judge it for credibility and worthiness. Judgment and discernment is especally important on a forum.
    4. What? I’m single. But I don’t post my life over the internet. I also don’t post about who I won’t date except those obvious things like someone under the influence of illegal narcotics.
    5. The reason was that you equated Taylor Swift into making someone unable to enter into a relationship.
    6. You’re free to look and notice any part of my life that I have posted on here.
Guess what. What you post is FAIR GAME. Like it or not.
