All Catholics, as well as all US Citizens, should be opposed to the Tea Party. The actions of the Tea Party, telling homophobic lies, shouting racial slurs, threatening the lives of innocent children, are in opposition to the teachings of the Catholic Church. They are also in oppostion to the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The US Constitution guarantees the freedom of speech but it also guarantees the freedom from speech, a criminal justice system, and the welfare of all citizens. The Tea Party is opposed to freedom of speech, advocates the death penalty for homosexual behavior, and disregards the criminal justice system. The Tea Party also opposes universal access to health-care and unemployment benefits. Without health-care, many citizens will die or live miserable lives. WIthout unemployment benefits, the unemployed cannot feed their families. Such a sinful and hateful organization should be openly opposed by all Citizens who support the US Constitution and all Catholics. This country could not have survived unless all citizens were granted basic human rights, the Tea Party is openly opposed to human rights and any sense of equality. Compassion is one of the fundamental values of the Catholic Church, the Tea Party has a complete lack of it.

No where in the Constitution does it say the gov’t is to provide health care.

I have also never heard of anyone in the Tea Party say anything racial, my dad attends tea party events and he told me himself that he has never heard of anyone spewing racial slurs to anyone or spew violence.

The National Heath care that you want so badly also funds abortions, so I don’t understand how you can be for that. How can you call yourself a Catholic, if you are for this health care that the big O has passed??!!

I have said my 2cents and now I will sit back and wait for your answer.

I have been to a few Tea Party events and have never seen or heard anyone associated with the group act in any way that was racist or that threatened children. The group is more open to free speech than any main line political party as far as I could tell from the events I attended. A huge variety of opinions were expressed ranging from strict Constitutionalism to succession (it’s Texas, after all ) A very free-speech forum.

Since you are not from the US, could it be that you are getting a somewhat filtered version of what the Tea Party’s goals are? The groups I have observed have consisted of mostly God-fearing, good Christian folk.

That is just not true. Please state where you received your information.

I find the tea-baggers perhaps the least educated, least knowing protest group in the history of the U.S. They are there merely because radio hosts and political jokes tell them that should be.

Least education? Please explain.

Least education? Please explain.
For example, in a recent poll almost 90% percent of Tea Baggers said taxes had gone up or stayed the same under Obama. Only two percent said they went down. In truth, taxes went down for 95% of working families.

When only 2% percent those in a “movement” about taxes named after the greatest tax revolt in US history have any clue as to what’s going on with their own taxes…well, I have a hard time with that.

You are saying that you see a decline in the tax movement? Really? And you believe that you will not see an increase once health care comes through as well? Where is all of this money coming from? Why is the state of CA going bankrupt? How do you think we are going to pay for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Mr. O has charged on our credit card?

I’m going to stop you right there. Documentation please. Links to raw footage.

“Tea bagger” is a mocking term applied to Tea Party participants by the left. I think the “brilliant” and educated constitutional scholar Janene Garofaolo was the first to use this term in reference to the Tea Party. It is a graphic reference to a certain sexual act. By using it, you reveal your own lack of education and respect for people who happen to disagree with you.

Exactly. It is shocking that the poster would use such an offensive term on a Catholic forum (or anywhere, really).

I am no fan of the tea part, but when have they threatened the lives of innocent children?

the only people that have threatened the lives of children are the ones in office that signed on this so called health care bill

what irritates me is that the op has yet to respond.

I am from the US, I have read everything there is about the Tea Party. I just wish I was in New Zealand because the past actions of the US government have been so dispicable. Anyone who fears God is not a good Christian because Our God is the God of Mercy. And good Christians don’t preach death to homosexualis.

So St. Paul wasn’t a good Christian, according to you?

“Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.”
~~ Philippians 2:12

Above Bible verse taken from the Epistle Of Saint Paul To The Philippians

It is not shocking to me, since many on the Left resort to personal attacks when there arguement is not supported by facts.

Again, many opinions, but no facts. When has the Tea Party preached death to homosexuals? Also, we are called as Christians to have a fear of the Lord, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Sorry, I misread your profile statement.

Anyone who does NOT fear the Lord is in big trouble as a Christian. Fear of the Lord is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit (CCC1831).

You don’t seem to understand your faith or the constitution. Where do you get your information and why do you feel you can launch such a hateful diatribe against the few people left in this country who DO understand the constitution.
