Tea party wins in northeastern primaries could bode well for Democrats

I am equally thrilled. First, the middle class of Delaware had a huge win against institutionalist politicians. AWESOME!!! :extrahappy::extrahappy::extrahappy: They got rid of another Republican Good Ol’ Boy (the should change it from GOP to GOB).

Second, if the GOP cannot gain control of the House or Senate with people who actually care about the people they represent rather than their own wealth and career, then I hope the Democrats keep control and keep pushing entitlements and deficit spending until there is no more United States of America. Then we can push the reset button and get a government that actually is “of the people, by the people, and for the people”, instead of “of the lobbyists, by special interests, and for my bank account”.

Case in Point: Charles Rangel.
Wow! Respectfully, what an utterly ignorant post! If there is no USA, that will include YOU. And, there will be no reset for us to push. Some other people, or some other nation will take over what used to be the USA and everything we love and know will be gone forever. If there is a war to try to stop that, than everything we have known and love will be gone. There is NOTHING positive about the USA going away…it is bad for all of us and it is bad for the world…darkness will rule for decades, maybe centuries.

I am stunned at the utter lack of awareness in your post. I mean no insult at all, yet you are not thinking this through. The USA is not a permanent nation…it too can fall into the dustbin of history and we (and OUR children) will go with it…

No: the opposite in fact. He managed to bring the squabbling Democratic factions together. Had the Democrats continued to fight over the public option, etc, he wouldn’t have passed the legislation. Obama got along with the people he needed to get along with to acheive his goals. The tea party isn’t working with the very people - the Republican establishment in this case - who can help them acheive their goals. In the Obamacare drama, the far left played the role the tea parties are playing now - but in the end they compromised, instead of shooting themselves in the foot.

In is admirable to get along with one’s enemies. It is essential to get along with one’s allies. Obama did what was essential, though not what is admirable. The tea parties are doing neither.
It is admirable to get along with one’s enemies. It is repulsive to compromise with them.

So, you want a bunch of statist republicans rather than real “limited government” representatives in COngress? Maybe, just maybe, the people in the Tea Party are no longer content with voting for the less of two evils.
In the process the nation will just choose the Democrats and everything they have passed will remain cast in concrete.

The Tea Party, in a very real way, is filling the role of a strong third party, and that will just help the left stay in power…which is exactly what the Tea Party and the GOP do not want! Obama and Rahm must utterly love the Tea Party.

It is NOT repulsive to compromise with enemies…sometimes it is the most wise choice in a fallen world. Perfection cannot be had on earth.

I am a card carrying minarchist/secessionist, just like John Adams, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. Our federal government has outgrown its usefulness for the purpose of which it was created. Since it will never amend itself, then we have to find alternative ways to fix it.

I am sure that 200 years ago, there were plenty of Tories who were saying the same thing. “We cannot break ties with England!!! What will become of us and our children?” Things turned out pretty okay for a while. However, Progressivism has rotted this country’s government to the core, and if the only way to fix it is to break it up into pieces, then liberty wins. I am not loyal to a piece of real estate with a name on it. I am loyal to the self-evident truths of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, ordained by nature’s God with a government committed to the duty of securing those rights.

We will agree that the nation needs repair. But, you are waaay off the reservation if you think the destruction of the nation is the way to fix it.

How often did Jesus compromise with the devil?
This is not about spiritual realities. It is about temporal earthly realities and we live in a fallen world. Absolutes rarely work in this fallen world. That is the problem I see with Tea Party people, they are nearly all walking in this absolutist mentality and that just won’t ever fly.

If the Tea Party cannot conform the GOP into a modern, minarchal, responsive to the people party, then I hope the Democrats continue their elitist rule over the country until it is push to the point of oblivion. Its not that far away.

That is because people compromise their principles for comfort. Look at Adam, he compromised when tempted with the easy way. Jesus didn’t. That is entire idea of the Passion of Christ. Willingness to suffer for the right thing.

Nominating O’Donnell is going to be a disaster for the GOP. It has nothing to do with her conservatism - the woman has real problems and real baggage. She has a long history of lying about and distorting her past. Her own campaign manager quit because he could not get her to stop spending campaign funds on her personal expenses. She will be used by the Dems to make the GOP look clueless and inept. I know Delaware has a high tolerance for gaffs and odd-ball statements - after all she is running for Biden’s old seat - but I don’t see how she survives two months of real public scrutiny. At least it should be entertaining, in a sad sort of way.
I’ve not really read in depth about the scandalous past she’s supposedly had…only heard and read bits and pieces. What I did read, was that some of these “charges” against her are trumped up by her opponent. “Politics as usual”. I think maybe the proof will be in the pudding. Are these solid facts or is some of it fabricated? I did read also that the Republicans treated her disgracefully. They have been fighting her and hitting below the belt.

People in general are totally fed up with both parties, and to tell you the truth, ANYONE could do a better job that what we’ve seen in the past 10 years and actually longer than that! It’s time to go out on a limb, Americans to get off their duffs and FIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY, otherwise there will be no more USof A. It’s WAY past time to CLEAN HOUSE…WAY PAST TIME.

I’ve been waiting for good ideas for over 4 years now. Neither the GOP or DNC have any. None…zip…nada. Their answers are regurgitations of the same old statist/Keynesian rhetoric. The government has to control/plan everything. you are all wards of the state. We will promise to make you happy. blah blah blah

You desire death for the nation? Is that really okay with you?

So, it is either your way, or the USA should be destroyed. Okay, that is your absolutist pov…I strongly disagree and so does the Catholic faith. We are to work to make the culture better, but we should not be standing behind the destruction of a nation or the death of many millions just to serve our own notion of what the nation should be.

You create much fear in me because I think many people in the Tea Party are just like you. They live in a bubble with a Glen Beck fantasy of raising our founders from the dead and re-implementing what the TP’ers see as the real USA. The problem is China, or Russia or some other people will simply step-in to take over the mess you leave.

As Catholics we are called to live in the world and try to make it better…not to drive us towards another civil war that will only result in millions dead and the USA gone forever.

Be very careful what you wish for…

If that is the only way that we can be brought out from the near totalitarian police nanny state that we become, then yes. As I said, I am commited to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not a land mass with a certain name. Are you trying to tell me that this country is still the same one represented in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution for the united states of America? If not, tell me how we get there under the present group of elitist rulers we have now? We are no longer governed by our peers, we are ruled by a group of elites who only care about a subdued mass of people who pay their taxes on time and are too apathetic or confused to actually act on their displeasure. That is why the Tea Party confounds both parties, because it is not “pro-elitist ruler Good Ol’ Boy”. It would support a limited government, politically conservative Democrat, but there aren’t any. Bart Stupak was almost close…until he sold his soul for a promise he knew would be broken before the ink was dry. Compromise with evil DOES NOT WORK.

  1. Who said I wished for the death of anyone?
  2. We haven’t had a civil war yet. By definition, a civil war is one where more than one party (not political party) violently wrest for control of the same government. That is what is starting to happen in Mexico. The “War of Southern Secession” was fabricated/instigated by Northern puritans to hasten the second coming of the Lord. The South, by definition, were not fighting for control of the North. They just wanted to break away from overbearing federal control and live in peace. Lincoln was the one who forced them back in at the point of a bayonet, with millions dying to preserve “this great nation”. Ask the decendents of Savannah Georgia how they feel about General Sherman’s patriotism.
  3. So, if a state were to declare its intent to peacefully secede from the union, why does that automatically conclude with the rush to arms and the deaths of millions? Who would be the one responsible for those deaths, the party that says “That’s it, we’ve had enough, we’re out of here.” Or the other party that says “Over my dead body are you leaving.”

Are you trying to tell me that this country is still the same one represented in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution for the united states of America?
Yes.

It is a land of opportunity and freedom and idealism, as always.

What about the American Revolution? Should we have simply “worked with” the British to prevent bloodshed at all costs?

I also wasn’t aware that you spoke for the Catholic faith.

Yes.

Hasn’t been that for over a hundred years, since the federal adoption of crony capitalism during the industrial age. Sorry to break it to you.

Destroying the country will just mean we all either die, or we live in nearly unlivable conditions and NO freedom forever. That is a gamle you are willing to take.
