Because they are working to divide Americans when we need unity. They have no real platform, no practical ideas for solving problems, and they have no interest in working with anyone who disagrees with their cause du jour.

Are you sure you are not talking about the Democrats because everything you just said here is exactly what liberal Democrats are doing to our country. They divide the people (rich vs poor, secular vs religious, big government vs smaller government, black vs white, and so on). They have only one platform which is to change the way the founding fathers of the U.S. intended the country to be run - i.e. they want a more socialist type government. Democrats don’t usually reach across the aisle to work with their Republican counterparts; Republicans usually do the compromising and reach out to Democrats usually to get a bipartisan agreement on bills.

It’s worth the risk. Either we get a truly conservative congress this time, or we over-reach and the Democrats continue to drive the country over a cliff.

Which is why Third-parties are gaining a foothold in this country finally. The Tea Party, Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually gain enough power to win the presidency one day.

So now I have resorted to explaining myself.

After I posted this there were many who called me to task. (see thread) I then did post sites that articulated my view point. No answer from those who called for my head. No one read any "refudiation’ I make my point and stand by it. No one here really reads the articles.

You are assuming that if people read the articles (which I did) they will automatically agree with you and everything you interpreted from them.

Just because we look at the same information does not mean we we are going to process it or interpret it the same way. That is more comdescension-----“you need to agree with me on this because it confirms my viewpoint or you simply clueless.”

I admit that Big Business may have influenced the start of the tea Party, but that does not mean they are NOT “grassroots.” And it does not mean that they ARE “corporate controlled.” I still disagree with that. Thanks for the information, though.

I simply was responding To ViaDolorosa’s OWN insult that posited that because Sarah Palin went to 5/6 different colleges and I went to University for 7 years, that we are not as “educated,” or worthy of admiration like Barack Onama. I understood it to be condescension on her part.
You could also say I insulted her because she insulted and other here first. I hope God may forgive me for that. But I still think that she WAS truly being condescending.

She’s an honest enough person that she would jokingly punch me or something but she takes what I say as I mean it. I show her I love her and that’s all that matters.

Some people just get made when you tell them something they dont want to hear regardless of whether or not it’s the truth. They have reasoned with themselves that they are right no matter what anyone else tells them.

Me too. Except when the now Ms/Mrs (whichever title she prefers of the two) Palin was governor, Obama was a United States Senator. You should have watched Rachel Maddow tonight. She pretty much dissolved the whole Tea Party big vs small government hype.

Because it’s** BIG BIG **government when you want the government to FORCE14 yr old (or younger children) to carry to term a pregnancy resulting from incestral rape.

Perhaps another reason why things may not bode well for the Tea Party in the long run.

You know, this gets old. You identify yourself as Catholic. The Catholic church clearly teaches that abortion, in all instances, is a grave, evil matter. You have even acknowledged that, and said you personally are opposed to abortion. Yet somehow you take offense at the notion of protecting the life of an innocent, unborn child.

You seem to be one of these “Well, I’m personally opposed to abortion, but who am I to force my beliefs on others.” How does that work for other situations?

“I’m personally opposed to slavery, but who am I to force my belief on others?”

“I’m personally opposed to rape, but who am I to force my belief on others?”

“I’m personally opposed to carjacking, but who am I to force my belief on others?”

I don’t know how you can honestly, and consistently, maintain such a position with regard to abortion, and not do the same with any other issue.

No, you missed the point.

It isn’t BIG BIG government interference when it acts to save lives. That’s why I posted things like thievery, murder, and drunk driving. Unless you think it is “huge govt interference in other aspects of people’s lives” when they enforce laws against theft, murder, and drunk driving.

Stopping abortion is in the exact same realm. It protects innocent people. And that is exactly the proper role of government.

What does the policy of government have to do with it’s size first of all?

Second of all, government has been passing laws beyond it’s enumerated powers for a long time now. It’s not really the tea party calling for smaller government legislation, but smaller government spending.

Now, if you want to discuss small government legislation fine, lets do it, either way you are wrong. But this has nothing at all to do with the tea party. And it looks as though the moderator has informed us of keeping on topic, so let’s try to do that and discuss this where appropriate.
