I can’t believe some of the photos people posted in the article showing what a classroom looks like in 2018. One of them had the teacher reading and half the kids not paying attention. Not sure what point they were trying to make with that one?

I took her tweet to be a general lament about education needing to improve, not specifically about class layout. I expect she regrets her tweet now.

A common tactic that any good teacher would call out.

And not a particularly effective one: treating the vital agents of change as thought they are the problem is not a good leadership approach.

Nope, she didn’t say all classes are that way, just that there was opportunity for progress.

Perhaps you’re right. I took it to be at least partially about layout. I might have been misdirected by the title of the thread, which suggests layout.

I would not question that there is plenty to be disturbed about in American education besides classroom layout.
