Teachers' Union Blues

Here’s an item to kick off a discussion of corruption in teachers’ unions:

In too many instances, teachers’ unions are as crooked as a shillelagh. In too many instances, unions’ elected officers and directors are as sedulously self-serving as a congressman or senator. In too many instances, officials at teachers’ unions earn enormously more than the teachers whom they represent.

In too many instances, teachers’ unions figuratively cohabit with insurance companies and brokerages to recommend high-cost, high-commission products that have low returns. Union officials would endorse the investment as well as the firm peddling it to the teachers. In return, the brokerage or insurance firms would enrich the union’s treasury, take union officials and their families on holidays, advertise in union publications, provide personal gifts and make myriad perks available on demand.

According to the Buckeye Institute Report, the National Education Association collected more than $50 million in 2004 and $53 million in 2005 from annuities, life insurance and other financial products it endorsed.

Here are a couple of comments from educators, themselves, regarding the school system:

As a current teacher, I can attest to the public schools promotion of an anti-christian, secular humanistic agenda. There are gay and liberal teachers on curriculum committees in US schools, who are attempting the same normalizing of gays in text books and activities. However, there are some teachers both catholic and protestant, who are quietly teaching christian values and the natural law in their classrooms. The students love learning about truth, right under the sodomizers radar screens.

I have been a teacher, school principal, school counselor, and marriage/family counselor and can vouch that the biggest threat to our democracy as well as to the souls of our children are the public schools.(In some cases,even parochial schools) where the agenda is to liberalize this society to the level of the most hedonistic people possible. The teacher unions are evil in their agendas and influence what goes on in the public school classrooms.Poor supervision and parents allow this to happen.

You’ve got me. I wonder where that union-hating and parochial-school-suspecting Gloomy Gus had all his or her experience in the School System from Hell. There was no agenda to turn all the pupils into hedonists in Brooklyn. LOL!
