I’m not sure what to make of it, but I have never experienced anything like this and felt compelled to share as I search for a meaning. During the Veneration of the Cross, I approached and lightly kissed it. At that very instant, I felt extreme sorrow. As I went back to my seat, I got very choked up and shed a few tears. I have never been an emotional man and this is very out of character for me. This is my last night as a Candidate and I will be brought into full Communion with the Church at the Easter Vigil tomorrow. I have often wondered when how and when I would know if I was ready for the sacraments and rite. I have been praying for a sign, I guess this is the sign I have been asking for.

You had a revelation via the Holy Spirit that your sins (and mine) made the crucifixion necessary. You might also have experienced your new character in Christ, by shedding tears over a sorrowful situation. If this occurs again, it may be an indication that you have received the gift of tears. This is a good tihng, as even Jesus wept over Lazarus’ death. I am guessing that your heart was contrite, and that leaves the door open for a supernatural gift.

Congratulations! the Easter Vigil is so beautiful. i think it is a good sign that you felt the way that you did. i think you are definitely ready for the service tomorrow evening. you will have to come back to CAF and let us know what you experienced and how you feel to finally be a member of the Catholic church!

The door is being opened unto you and you are feeling the emotions of a welcome home?

I get that way every year…you are engaged in the prayer and the solemnity of the liturgy. It means that you are participating fully, consciously and actively.
