Media exposure and fund raising. It had no actual legislative effect (and was not meant to).

Thanks! I had been thinking it must have been some sort of delaying tactic.

Just another example as to why conservatives are a small minority in this country. The Affordable Care Act WAS voted on. It was voted on and PASSED the House of Representatives. It was voted on and PASSED the United States Senate. The President of the United States signed it into LAW. The Supreme Court APPROVED its constitutionality. The 2012 Presidential elections featured a candidate who ran on repealing the Affordable Care Act and LOST BADLY!!!

Accept the facts…the Affordable Care Act was voted on and passed and IS the LAW OF THE LAND! So I do hope the right wing politicians continue to act as children throwing a tantrum and shut down the government. Its a sure way to give the House back to the Dems.

So get used it and sign up Oct 1st.

Actually, given the precedent set by this President with regards to actually enforcing laws of the land, like border fences, immigrations laws (see Arizona vs the Feds), Obamacare (already), DOMA, and many more, the next Republican president will likely cite the same made up excuse Obama made up and can simply ignore it.

Given the precedent being set about which laws the Chief Executive chooses to enforce (which shows you us how badly BO has damaged the presidency), I look forward to the Republican in the White House saying"yeah, we’re not going to follow that law…"

So forgive us if we don’t rush to sign up. Not like many other people are, hence their concerns about paying for it.

Still less bizarre than passing legislation you haven’t read, being aghast when you find out what is in it, then making illegal exceptions for your buddies because “who is going to stop you.”

I’d saying the clowns that voted for it are a bit more bizarre and dangerous than Cruz.

I for one appreciate Senator Cruz!!

at least we know that there is ONE politician who is actually listening to the people!!
and the green eggs and ham had to do with him reading to his kids before bed!

and it had nothing to do with fundraising!! it’s amazing how anyone could even confuse that with the clown in the WH who does nothing and done nothing and is still fundraising every chance he gets!!
 
This wasn’t about Mr. Smith going to Washington. It was about Mr. Cruz going to the White House.

Really? You mean like George W. not enforcing regulations in regards to food, water, and things like offshore oil rigs? But I guess it was ok then cuz he was a Republican. :rolleyes:

Your don’t have to sign up but don’t dissuade someone who doesn’t have insurance to sign up for it.

He’s actually right. Please nominate someone like Cruz, Paul or another looney and it will be another Goldwater type debacle for the GOP.

Conservatives just don’t learn that their political philosophy has been REJECTED by the american people time and time again.

Precedent? Bush issued 157 signing statements declaring his intent not to comply with and/or enforce more than 1,000 provisions of law. This precedent was set by James Monroe (196 years ago) not by Obama and it was a Republican President (Bush) who takes the dishonor of doing it on an unprecedented scale.

If you are referring to me personally, I’m sure you can cite an example. I was pretty dead on about the last WH race…you must remember…the one that many conservatives said Romney would win by a landslide.

True, but oxen are not known for recognizing trends and understanding how to win national elections. Guess GOP really stands for Grand Ox Party.

How about the most recent precedent, fresh in the public’s mind then? Obama’s example is especially glaring, since he decided to usurp power from Congress in editing HIS OWN LEGISLATION after the fact. The fact is no Republican president has to do anything more with the ACA than use it for kindling. If they simply don’t enforce the law, it becomes paper, and who is going to challenge them? As you claimed, Presidents do it all the time, and if the law remains as unpopular as it is currently, most people simply won’t care.
