Yup… and quite a few of them are democrats… wonder why the media dodges that fact alot. 🤷
Very true, Jeffrey. The early emanations of the Tea Party bubbled up when the insane bipartisan TARP thievery was being pushed through in '08. The mortgage collapse came about thanks to guys like Obama SUING banks to force millions in massive loans to folks who had no equity. But BUSH was as responsible as anyone for pushing TARP, and giving the Fed carte blanche to grant trillions to banks around the globe. So, we are only supporters of those who stand by free markets or Constitutional principles. :yup: Rob

You will be pleased to learn that the great orator and patriot Ted Cruz was born to an American mom, and has been an American citizen since birth. :yup: Rob
Interesting take on that.
So is he eligible? The vast majority of legal thought and arguments indicate he is.
Is there the tiniest sliver of uncertainty? Yes, there’s that, too.
Constitutional requirements
The Constitution says any candidate for president must be 35 years of age, a resident within the United States for 14 years and a “natural born citizen.”
We’ve looked at the question of natural born citizenship before. Back in 2008, people raised questions about the “natural born” citizenship status of both major party candidates.
We’ve fact-checked several statements about President Barack Obama’s place of birth and his birth certificate. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and his mother was a U.S. citizen. His father was Kenyan.
We also looked at the case of John McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone because his American father served in the military. McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, saw his standing briefly challenged in court.
Interestingly, both of McCain’s potential Democratic opponents – Obama and then-Sen. Hillary Clinton – co-sponsored Senate legislation to settle McCain’s eligibility. The April 2008 resolution said, “John Sidney McCain, III, is a ‘natural born Citizen’ under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States”
Defining “natural born”
So what is a “natural born” citizen? The Constitution doesn’t specifically say.
In 2008, we reviewed research and polled several legal experts. The consensus was that someone is a “natural born” citizen if they have citizenship at birth and don’t have to go through a naturalization process to become a citizen.
If that’s the definition, then Cruz is a natural born citizen by being born to an American mother and having her citizenship at birth. (This same logic would apply to Obama, even if he were born in another country, which he wasn’t.)
The Congressional Research Service published a report on the issue after the 2008 election; the agency is tasked with providing authoritative research to all members of Congress. It, too, supported the thinking that “natural born” citizenship means citizenship held “at birth.”
But the Supreme Court – the ultimate arbiter of constitutional questions – has never ruled on the matter. And that means a note of uncertainty remains.

The idea that we must “do SOMETHING”, and that something is imposing 23,000 pages of bureaucratic, nightmarish rules, is preposterous.
It’s interesting to note that in those 23,000 pages are 161 Amendments proposed by the Senate Republicans and approved by the Democrats. This McCain admitted on the very floor of the Senate.

Meh… mccain should just switch parties already.

What your basically doing is knit picking. If press a or news organization b says what I want them to say, their doing right thing. When they go against what we believe is left wing. Look no matter what site you go to you will see that Cruz went against what he was preaching.
Not at all. No one with any honesty could listen to any given hour of Cruz’ marathon speech, and come away with a juvenile Dr. Seuss commentary. The press supports an extremist, anti-Constitutional rights agenda, and sadly, even many purported conservatives are statists when their surface is scratched. It comes down to this: ANY 23,000 page bill, which ObamaHealth Control is, is sheer madness, and the fight for freedom FROM excessive regulation and taxation is heroic. No nitpicking necessary. Rob 😉

That’s only a small part of it. Hank Paulson et al didn’t complain making billions of dollars while he was CEO at GS during that time. Much of that came at the expense of rising oil and other commodities. And why was that when banks are supposed to be in the business of only lending money?

61, EH? That sounds as if maybe 10 pages or so of Republican ideas are contained therein, amidst the 23,000 pages. And, I am sure that most, if not all of them make Obamacare slightly less onerous. Except possibly McCain’s ideas, that is. :o

Fannie and Freddie bought up these bad mortgages, and tried to resell them. 17 times the GOP tried to stop the oncoming asteroid, and were rebuffed as racists. Guys like Paulsen came out smelling like roses b/c THEY were able to wash their hands of all the untenable loans.

It was too late for that. Remember Solomon Brothers and Bear Stearns? Navistar? I take it you didn’t read the book or see the movie “Too Big To Fail”? It was pointed out that Russia and China had managed to buy up considerable amount of Fannie and Freddie bonds and were ready to dump them, which would have sent the American economy into an unimaginable tailspin. Paulsen didn’t come out of it smelling like any rose.

*To Big to Fail *simply showed what its like to try to deal with a disaster while its happening instead of BEFORE it happens. As I said earlier a simple rule change from Mark to Market to present value for specific assets would have solved the entire issue without sending the economy into a tail spin or the federal government spending a hundreds of billions of dollars. But where is the fun in that?

Have you seen what happened to those Amendments? Like the requirement that the House and Senate staffers use the exchanges?

It was too late for that.
Let me clarify. I say too late because the Fed realized the problem and started raising interest rates back in 2004. But what exacerbated the problem perhaps was Bernanke announcing in 2005 that home prices would never come down in his opinion and that only added fuel to the home flipping environment. So there were a lot of moving parts which led to the banking crisis that became fully realized in 2008.

McCain is YOUR messenger. Cruz is mine! 😃 Rob
Let’s see. McCain born in Panama. Cruz born in Canada. I wonder who paid for their deliveries and what exactly was a pregnant Mrs. Cruz, a U.S. citizen, doing up in Canada anyway. And why isn’t Trump asking these questions?

Glass-Steagall. 🤷

Mickey, WHAT are you talking about? The Tea Party was formed in response to BIG BROTHER government ignoring the Constitution and taxing citizens as they would subjects. Are we to all bleat like sheep in order not to be called “right wing extremists”? Methinks it is people such as YOU who have surrendered your and your children’s freedom heritage. All you have left is invective for people who will not surrender and comply, as you already have. Rob
Actually, the Tea Party was formed by lobbyists and super pacs. Talk about people that follow like sheep. Shhheeeshhh. the Koch brothers are pulling the strings. Always have been…still are.
