hey! I’m 14 and discerning a call to the diocesan priesthood! Religious orders don’t sit well with my personality because I want to be out there with people and preach as many homlies as possible on the eucharist!!! You can read my full story at : teencatholic.blogspot.com/2008/07/welcome.html

Hello! I’m 14 almost 15. I’m thinking about joining the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia.:nun2: I love little kids and school but who knows if i’m meant to go there, i might end up somewhere else instead. Does anyone know of a Catholic organization that helps in China or Africa? I’d like to help over there too!🙂

I jokingly replied that what if I don’t marry or if I become a priest. My coworker suddenly became serious and actually encouraged me about that vocation!

God works in mysterious ways! Anyone else agree?

This is so true. I’m glad that you’re coworker encouraged you. This is a truely wonderful thing.:bounce:
 
I am 18 years and I guess you can say that I did consider joining the holy sisters. However, recently I’ve found out that I would probably be happiest in the married life.

As for advice, everyone think very hard on your possible vocations. Someone once told me that you can be happy in every vocation; you just have to find which is the best for you.

We could always use more priests, brothers, deacons, and nuns out there though. 😃
 
Hi I’m fifteen and I’m thinking about (and potentially leaning toward) the diocesean priesthood.

I’m an active altar boy and know my way around the liturgy
I attend a Catholic School
And I have a great spiritual director

If I become a priest I will most assuredly celebrate the Extraordinary Form, and the Novus Ordo ad orientem and in Latin with chant.
 
i’m glad that you’re so serious about your vocation. It’s amazing.

Check out the Dominican Order (Ordo Praedicatorum).I first thought about diocesan priesthood actually, but got clear directions to the Dominican Order.
It’s not really a “monastic” order: more like a mix of the two: you work with others outside, but also have time to retreat into the convent and share your faith with your brothers in Christ.

The convent is like a “refueling station” - considering the thousands of possibilities that may burn you out in the modern world.

It is really true that the Lord can speak through anyone! I earlier posted in this thread about my vocation, if you want to read back (Long story short, I’m 16 and confused about my vocation). I agree. I had similar experiences. E.g.: going to Mass after some time as beign an atheist and not really caring and the Mass is all about the answers to the questions I had in mind. Or, being told someone about a member of a religious order and me replying “what a coincidence” and the person becoming serious answering: “That’s no coincidence, it’s God’s way”.

My advice is to ask and to listen to the answer attentively. And once you are given the answer, seek no further, but follow the Lord.

Dominicans send missionaries/teachers all over the world. They are active in all continents 😉

I e.g. attended a private Catholic school run by Dominican sisters with everything from nursery to college.

I am 15 (nearly 16), and I have no idea what God’s calling me to yet. Part of me wants to be a live-in L’Arche assistant for my whole life (I don’t think they can marry), another part of me wants to be a nun, though I don’t know which order I would join, and part of me wants to marry and raise 10 kids 😃 Another part of me wants to become an electrical engineer, and another part wants to become an astronaut and live on Mars. Still another part of me is open to other possibilities. But another part tells me I’m not qualified to do any of these, because I lack the social skills (in real life I am quiet, introverted, and somewhat immature in my own way).

Right now, I’m just exploring the possibilities and staying open to pretty well anything. I haven’t spoken to anyone seriously about what I want to be, and whenever my parents ask me what I’m going to do when I grow up, I tell them I have no idea, because I don’t. I don’t even know if I want to go to university. I’m pretty much just taking it one day at a time, and hoping the choices I make now will turn out to be the right ones. Maybe not the best course of action, but I don’t know what else to do 🤷
So far it’s worked out well. One such choice was to join Scouts this year, just because I love hiking and camping. Already, it’s helped me to develop some of those social skills that I mentioned I was lacking 👍
 
I would think with the nerd glasses in your signature that you would be going into Engineering. 😃 Are you good at Math and sciences?

😛 Yes. But, like I said, I’m not sure what I want to do yet. What gets me is that I can only really be one, or maybe two things, but there’s so much choice and I’m interested in nearly everything :rolleyes:

Hi! I’m 13 and I want to become a Benedictine nun of Perpetual Adoration. Nobody I know wants to be a nun, so I feel kind of alone sometimes. I’m really pleased I found this forum! I f anyone has an aim or aim mail please aim or e-mail me! my username is Adrienne5678 Thanks, and God Bless! 🙂

I also know what it’s like to feel alone, but always remember that you are never alone NO MATTER WHAT! Because God is always with you through it all!
