CatholicGuy, that’s wonderful! We will be praying for you!

And for all the rest of you discerning your vocations! Please do make plans to finish college before entering, since your education can be very helpful to your order and your eventual responsibilities. Also, consider that most orders will ask you to finish paying your debt before entering (as will diosecian seminaries), so do all you can to be focused during college so that you get the most from your time there.

I very strongly considered religious life before marriage and I pray that we will all be open to the vocation God sends us. :signofcross:

It is true that some orders ask you to finish college before entering but it isn’t always needed. Some orders have such an apostolate that a college degree isn’t needed and some orders are able to educate their sisters. It depends on what orders you are discerning with. Sometimes it is best to enter right out of high school. It depends on the person as each vocation is unique. I do however agree one hundred percent with being focused if you are in college. That’s something I have a really hard time with. Slowly but surely I’m learning how to live in the moment and enjoy my time here. It’s still a mission field even though it’s where I’ve spent all my life. Don’t forget that He will use you where ever you are but only if you’re one hundred percent there and not in the past or future.

CatholicGuy I’ll be praying for you!!

Unless I decide different between now and then, I am going to be a sister. I’m only 13 right now, but I am very devoted to God. Also, I’m preparing for my confirmation and am stuck on the names Cecilia and Rose. Which one should I go with?
God Bless You,
Jessica

I’m partial to Rose only because Saint Rose of Lima is one of my patron Saints for this year but I also really like Saint Cecilia as she is the patroness of musicians and I’m the musician for my parish. I guess I’m not much help am I? 🤷 🙂 I just want to say a word of caution, from personal experience that caused a lot of pain in my life, be really careful to not get too set on any one path because you’re young and God could do something you’ve never even imagined. But believe me, if He does you’ll love it! 😃
Just work on falling in love with Him and the rest will follow!

Last night I finally got up the nerve to email the vocations director for “my” order and I just got a response from her! I’m crying right now because it’s just so real for me now. I’m so excited about it and I can’t believe that He would really want me, but He does. I am really going to be a nun, AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

My whole life is about worshipping God. I pray every night and I look forward to attending Mass when I can. I am still in school so I cannot attend the monday mass as it starts at 7 a.m. and school starts at 8 a.m. I read or at least try to read some of the bible everyday and I look forward to my time at the catholic school I go to. My favorite teachers are the sisters, but the other teachers are cool too. I’m pretty sure I’m going to become a religious sister, most likely in the teaching apostolate! I plan to at least complete two years of college when I contact the mother of the order of my choosing! Maybe even four or six years. I’d like to know some good orders for the teaching apostolate, but keep in mind I am already aware of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia in Nashville, Tennessee!
God Bless Y’all!
Jessica

P.S. Which one do you prefer: Sister Mary Martha, Sister Mary Cecilia, or Sister Mary Rose?

Also, the priest at my church denied to give me a letter of permission to give to another local priest to get my sacraments. So, we were going to switch churches because we weren’t very happy with the church we’re going to now. I have a question. Is it true that the catholic parish closest to one’s home is the parish they will belong to until they move closer to another parish? I’ve talked to a priest and he said this was true, but we had to go to two priests to get the full depth of a previous matter. I think the reason why I won’t be getting my sacraments this year so the sisters at my school can come (I really want them to come) is that he sisters are being assigned to my school next year. 🙂 I’ve prayed that the sisters would get to see me receive my sacraments. So, hopefully they be assigned to my school again. They’ll be finding out soon.

God Bless Y’all,
Jessica :nun1:

Hi All,

I was thinking of becoming a priest but im not sure if its for me…believe me it has come up many times…at school and at church

At school i am very religious and one of my support officers said i would become a great priest. My Altar Server Trainer a few months ago said hello father to me and said i should be a priest but also today as a deacon

im a 18 year old male

Help…what do you think…IM COMPLETELY CONFUSED

Howdy,
I’m 13 and I have felt drawn to the religious life every since I was old enough to know of the Saints. When I was small I made a vow to God that I would become a nun (although I’m not sure whether it is a valid vow) I still feel like I need to fulfill it. I really have no clue which order I might join but I know I want to join one. I’'ve only told my parish priest about this and I feel as if God sent him just for me because he is a very great priest and I have come to trust him more than I have any other so I have asked him for advice but I’m waiting for a reply. Please keep me in your prayers

I was where you were not too long ago (I’m 19). I’d recommend a few things. The first thing anyone will tell you, get a spiritual director. Find a priest who you trust to guide you along the process of discernment. Pray regularly, asking God for an answer. He’ll let you know what you should do sooner or later. It may take a while, but you will eventually get an answer. Don’t try to force it, and be open to all possibilities. Look at marriage, the religious life, and priesthood. You never know where you are called to be. Just be persistent in prayer. Trust me, it works. It got me into the seminary. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. If you want some account of what seminary is like, click the link in my signature. I try to keep an accurate account of seminary life there, although there’s some general vocation stuff there too. I’ll be praying for you.

Well you’re young, so you’ve still got plenty of time to figure things out.Don’t worry about the promise you made as a child. You were little then, and didn’t truly understand what you were promising. God calls you wherever he calls you, be it marriage or religious life. Continue to pray on this, asking God to let you know where to go. Look at the various orders and congregations there are, and see what you feel drawn to. Some orders have an active ministry, going out and doing things like helping the poor, caring for the sick, teaching, etc. Some are more contemplative, and will focus mostly on prayer, although the more active orders also focus on prayer too. You will find a variety of orders, some more like one life or the other, or a combination. Trust in God and find where he is calling you. I will be praying for you.

Christ is risen!!
I would offer a ditto to both of these posts. 🙂

I just want to add one thing to Love is. It’s true that you are very young and the promise you made as a child isn’t binding but I know from personal experience that there is something to just knowing your vocation. It’s a fine line though (as I’ve found in the past few years the hard way, if you want more on that send me a pm and I’ll tell you about it) in just knowing something and still being open to God’s plan. It’s really important for those of us who are young to remember the fact that it’s all up to Him and we just need to be open to Him and His timing. Don’t rush it, don’t worry about it and don’t forget to pray about it!!!

I think I made it sound like that is for sure what I’m going to be, I know that things can change but as of right now I feel drawn to the religious life, I don’t mean that I am for sure going to become a nun but there is a chance that I might. I’ll leave it in the Lord’s hands.

I’m 14, a freshman, JPII generation, young church, and I am called to be a bride of christ.

I had no idea the posts on the last page were so far apart in time, lol. That’s what I get for skimming.

Actually I got sick last november 2009 with chronic fatigue syndrome. I haven’t abandoned the thought of nunhood. I’m guessing someone won’t let me. 😛 But right now I need to chill. I don’t know what the future brings right now, if and how much I’ll get better etc, so it’s hard to plan anything.

Hi! I am 16, and trying to discern my vocation presently. Right now, I fell strongly called to help children in Africa specifically, though I’m not sure if it’s as a nun, as a single person, or to marry there. I first started feeling called about a year ago, but I was a little scared at becoming a nun for some reason. However, now I am trying my best to be open to God’s inspiration and to accept what he is putting out for me. 🙂

I’m glad to hear you say that!! Only because I had to learn the hard way and went to help others learn from my mistakes. 🙂

I’m a teen, discerning a vocation, but I absolutely have no idea if that’s what God wills for me. I’ll just put it in His hands.

That’s what I’m doing. 🙂 It gets hard. But we must look to Our Lady for help. 🙂 And as an example 🙂

Yes it’s hard! Haha 🙂
But I always say that if God wants it to happen, He’ll make it happen. 😃
