Teen/Young Adult converts?

There are others who sometimes visit CAF who are also converting teenagers. I hope they contact you.

I was;
nothing at all - neo pagan - evangelical - catholic:D
 
I’m interested in becoming Catholic. I’ll be 14 in May. I’m just having a bit of trouble getting my Baptist parents to go along with it!
 
Hello! I am currently 18, but was received into the Church at the Easter Vigil when I was 16. I didn’t really believe in anything before. My mom converted a few years before me and started bringing me to church with her at the behest of our priest, and I totally fell in love with it! My parents are divorced, and my father is still rather infuriated about it because he strongly dislikes the concept of organized religion. My advice for you, if you are having trouble with your parents going along with your desires, is to speak with your priest and also just pray about it a lot. Peace!

Baptist - Catholic. My parents were upset at first, but I sat down and explained my reasoning to them and they support me in my decision now.

I wasn’t any particular faith, just vaguely theistic. My parents were supportive, although they do tease me from time to time by calling me a priest.

I came into the Church when I was 15 at Easter Vigil and I’m 16 now. Previously I had no real belief in God whatsoever.
My parents were probably more than a little confused but supportive nonetheless.🙂
 
My daughter converted last year at 14 by her own choice. She is not registered on the forum, but if you have a specific question I could pass it on to her. She is very happy with her decision and attends a Catholic high school.
 
Another Chance, are you catholic, then? Did your daughter convert with, or after you? Or are you noncatholic?

My husband is a lapsed cradle Catholic. I want to convert, but am waiting on an annulment. I was hoping for this Easter, but it looks like it will be next Easter. I take my daughter to Mass every week, but sadly cannot participate in the Eucharist.

So our teenager is the only one in the family at this time who is an active, practicing Catholic. My husband’s entire extended Polish Catholic family has left the Church. We put our daughter in a Catholic school two years ago mainly because it was the only decent school in our area. Then starting with that event, we have all been slowly drawn back to the Church.

She has both a supportive parent (me) and a non-supportive parent (her lapsed Catholic father). He complains regularly about us going to Mass and had a virtual tantrum when he had to take her on Christmas because I was not able to. So I think she can relate to teens whose parents are not particularly supportive.
 
I’m 15 and thinking of converting.
My parents aren’t enthusiastic but to those of you who converted as teenagers, how did you convince your parents it was the right thing for you?

God bless all teenage converts…a small glimmer of hope in a generation that will descend into Hell almost in bulk come judgment day…its my generation as well so I can say this. Its good to know there is some Light out there.
 
We should begin a devotion to the Teenage Jesus!
(There’s one to the Holy Infant, why not the teen?)

I’ll start:

Lord, Thou in Thy Incarnation hast sanctified all stages of living. Thou knowest how strange and difficult the teen years are. We pray then, Lord Jesus, that Thou wouldst give us the grace we need to grow and live as Thou wouldst have us do so. Teenage Jesus, bless us, that we may imitate Thee.
