I do not think that Cardinal Dolan has any chance of becoming Pope at the conclave next month. The reasons are quite simple: There is almost an unwritten rule that the pope will not come from the reigning superpower. That would mean America would have, almost, two representations on the world stage - two states run by an American, not to mention the world’s largest religion led by someone from the world’s only superpower. It seems somewhat problematic.
Secondly, Cardinal Dolan is not a polyglot. Multiple languages are usually sought after in a papabile. He cannot, as far as I am aware, speak Italian which would seem to be something of a prerequisite given that the pope does, after all, have to live in the capital city of the Italian state.
There are other reasons two but that will suffice for the moment. I honestly think that he has “nil poi” chance of being elected pope. We should be looking eleswhere IMHO.
