i heard of her she was a great saint a martyr,
on day i was so sad and frowning when a seminarian told me her story.
she was killed by people who tried to colonize their place. She smiled to the soldiers. The soldiers killed her and they pulled out all her teeth while she was alive. she was still smiling.

if that story was correct 🙂

my devotion was to blessed Dina Belanger, a canadian mystic
Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, a french mystic
Servant of God Simona Tronci, a lay person in Cagliari

There are some wonderful new saints here.Like a lot of people here on CA ,I get a bit lazy and either INTEND to look up and “google” people like Blessed Pedro,M.Conception (I think that Sr.Agnes was "little Therese’s Superior?) So, it would be helpful if everyone either gave us a little summary of each person they mention or provide a quick link,please! I like the personal connection stories especially.Thank you everyone for a great start!

gave us a link about a Fr.Augustine Marie of The Blessed Sacrament,I was wrapped in the CD story of this son of the Hebrew faith,a pupil of Listz(apparently the greatest piano composer ever) I passed on this Link to a music teacher friend.It reminded me of some wonderful conversion stories like Alphonse & Theodore Ratisbonne,Venerable Francis Liberman & ST.Edith Stein just to name a few! You have given good reasons for your patron saints(devoted or otherwise–sorry for teasing you:D!!) I also noted your “devoted” attention to that great servant of God Arch.Fulton Sheen—a well known future “saint”–I will bet my shirt on it!!)–you are correct though in your observation; because strickly speaking devotion pertains to Divine Worship; but the general usage can also mean we can be devoted or loyal to persons or friends -----and to saintly friends, we can become a devotee!!?

Blessed Seelos must like your stores.He did work in The States for most of his priestly life.
I must admit that I never have come across either of these titles or aspects of Our Heavenly Mother.(The Memorare of St.Bernard does cover these)They sure are two certain attributes that The Immaculate Heart of Mary does show often.

His tomb is in New Orleans which is about 1.5 miles from where we live. Our Lady of Prompt Succor saved the Ursuline convent from burning in New Orleans. Our Lady of Good Success is venerated in Quito, Ecuador, www.ourladyofgoodssuccess.com has losts o information on her, there are two books out about her. Mother Marianna de Jesus Torres is the nun she revealed herself to.

I read his “story”,very impressive.It is hard for a person like me in aussie land to really appreciate the effects that 'segregation" had on the catholic population.I remembered my dad telling me ,on how his cousin from Adelaide (australia) was attending a Mass in Chicargo in the mid sixties and he was shocked to see how the afro-americans all lined up to receive communion from the same race back ground priest and the "white"s going to “their” priest.He was not used to this at all in australia and so he recieved communion from the “afro-american” priest!!.It looks like Fr.Augustine dealt with this situation a hundred years before ! I trust and pray that Fr.Augustine Tolton will be raised up by The Church before long—pray for him to interceed for you with a couple of miracles(that kicks on the process—big time! thanks for this post!)

Servant of God Fr.Walter Ciszek,is one person that I enjoyed reading about years ago.I think there were two books out,one being I think was called With God In Russia.It tells how Fr.Walter made the best of his time in the gulag prison system;as he was arrested as soon as he step into Russia as someone had undermined his secret plan to work in Russia.Here is this link

Blessed Peter ToRot–a lay catechist from Papua New Guinea.This is one of many people that Blessed John Paul raised up during his long pontificate.Blessed Peter was killed by the Japanese in July 1945 for his missionary work amongst his people.He was(like St.Maximilian Kolbe–my favorite patron!!) injected with a lethal drug ,whilst in prison on charges of conducting a Catholic marriage in a “cave” church ,where he conducted “prayer services” ,when there were no priests to say a secret Mass.I like Blessed Peter ToRot, as I knew a few countrymen of his;I still recall a local Papuan Bishop in 1972 in Brisbane(at a Fatima prayer event) telling us in broken pigeon english ,how he remembers all the people praying the rosary, as the Japanese planes flew over Rabaul dropping their bombs on them! They are as nation , tuff as old boots!!(a lot of Polish missionaries went there after the war in 1945.)

yeah ur right Mother Agnes of Jesus is one of her superiors and also one of her Sisters 🙂 Pauline Martin
 
When I decided that I had a call to the Dominican Laity I began to research about those Saints and Blesseds of the Dominican Order. In the Dominican Laity you have a religious name, when I became a novice in the Lay Chapter I choose the name: Diana Jordan. Diana Jordan I choose because of Blessed Jordan of Saxony and Blessed Diana d’Andalo.

Blessed Jordan was the Second Master of the Order and was the spiritual director and close friend to Blessed Diana. There are manuscripts of Blessed Jordan’s letters to Blessed Diana, but none of hers to him. A great book to read about their lives is called: To Heaven with Dianaamazon.com/Heaven-Diana-dAndal%C3%B2-Translation-Letters/dp/0595385869

One of my favorite letters from Blessed Jordan is actually his last that seems to fit directly to the beautiful relationship these two had and still have. Here is the letter:

constant friendship of Jesus Christ.

They are three that I had never heard of before.The letter that you quoted is very moving.It reminded me a bit about the relationship between Sts Cyril & Methodious;Sts.Scholastic & St Benedict.It shows that being “religious or pious” does not mean we have to be aloof from our feelings & love for others;if fact, your saints just prove the opposite that a spiritual friendship purifies our attachments to persons,places or things and we love others in Christ.
