Ok, what’s the book? That’s the thing, I was reading the book yet some parents got offended by either me or someone else since other teachers were reading something similar.

What catechism series discusses annulments and communion for the divorced and remarried in 1st grade? That’s the thing, I was reading the book yet some parents got offended by either me or someone else since other teachers were reading something similar.
All books come from a publishing firm. Something here is off. :ehh:I don’t have the book with me but they got it from a publishing firm. Many teachers this year don’t like how it’s set up. That’s not the point though, the church is writing up something for us to tell the kids about this.
Is the DRE a volunteer? No the book just talks about marriage being a sacrament but there are exceptions to breaking a marriage. The other things are what we have to tell them which someone is a writing.
A person in the church is writing up something for you to tell the kids. And if it is inaccurate, or validates unmarried couples or other sorts of arrangements, I would not read it. Period. That’s not the point though, the church is writing up something for us to tell the kids about this.

Who’s deciding that these things need to be “read out” to the kids?
Is this in a group setting? How are the parents involved? Is it whole family catechesis?
The whole thing sounds odd. It just does, sorry.
The DRE is not a volunteer but tends to be a pushover. For example a few parents through the years offered to help with their kids class, and without asking the teacher has made the parents teachers too, or even made the actual teacher (who usually has done it for years)an assistant to the parent who often doesn’t know what they are doing (and usually quits). This has gotten several teachers upset who put work into the class and see it being changed. So yes a few parents are writing it out or telling her what to tell the kids, which includes that the church has no problem with divorce ever or that unwed parenting is acceptable always and it doesn’t matter if the parents are together. I would rather stick to listing it as a sacrament.A person in the church is writing up something for you to tell the kids. So, a visit with the Pastor and DRE is in order.I am certified, in fact I am a certified teacher as well, though right now don’t teach kids professionally. Many of those teaching aren’t teachers of any sort, many are the parents. I would never condemn anyone for getting a divorce, epecially kids, likewise don’t like to talk about the topic with kids except in the sacrament. We have standards we have to uphold, which I do but a few others don’t.
By whom?Another teacher spoke to her and she said she doesn’t like it either but it was told to her.
