Suicide is a weapon of the Enemy against the one who loves Christ.
It is an act of desperation - the Enemy thinks “I cannot pervert this one, I cannot get them to voluntarily give up Christ, I must destroy him or her.”
So it was with my dear friend Tricia, who took her life in a dark moment 6 years ago this month. I still miss her and remember her and her devastated family in my prayers.
She was a bright person who brought light and love everywhere she went. At the time of her death, she was working on decoding the genome of MRSA, an organism whose prevalence is on the rise and whose virulence is horrific. Had she lived, she could have saved many lives. The Enemy overwhelmed her in her weakness in order to inflict pain upon the rest of the world.
When Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. When Satan speaks your sins to you, speak every precious breath of Jesus’s forgiving love. When Satan lies about your worth, remind him of the price paid by Christ for your life. Don’t give in.
Lord of Life, Lord of Hope,
I pray reach into the souls of those whose paths are darkened,
whose hearts are heavy with shadow
raise them up
remind them of their worth to you
show them the good things you have planned for them
and may we be messengers and healers to them
in your Most Precious Name,
