And in Islam women are also regarded as pieces of fertile land, where their husbands can plow, then put seeds and make … lol. So funny and a bit erotic flavor, don’t you think so? ;). I would like to explain it as erotic humiliation to women.
What?
Are you saying you approve or just that its funny?

you really get your panties in a wad over everything dont you? and women have been related to the earth since ancient times, ancient goddess spirituality is earth centered, and the imagery referring to women as such shouldnt be considered offenssive. even many feminists regard goddess spirituality as a good alternative to male oriented religion

Yes, how dare I question people over their wording in an environment of text only communications:rolleyes:

Porn may objectify women but at least it treats them as desirable/good things.
This kind of Sharia law treats women like evil/shameful things that must be hidden from the sight of people (i.e. men).
Perhaps they are related. If one reads about the pornographic cults of ancient Bablyon, one begins to think that perhaps the cultural practice of veiling, which originate in the same general area, was not without reason.

Remember what The Clash said about those who seduce nuns?

Yes, this degrades women in a way that even the nastiest pornography cannot.

ok that statement is just sick…

lol no, cool down. I was being sarcastic to islam when I wrote this. This is the most terrible thing in this, world and I believe it. This is the worst disgrace to humanity, and islam is successfully doing so.

hope I am clear now 😉

Actually, there is a great deal of hypocrisy in how Muslim men act and how they expect their women to act. For instance, the suicide attackers on 9/11 frequented strip clubs (keep in mind that these men were supporters of the Taliban and equally harsh groups).
They say that it is for their husbands.
But I agree with you.
Though put the foot outside marriage is universal…though wrong…

The truth often hurts:shrug:

Salafists disrupt classes at Tunisia Manouba University, demanding stop to mixed-sex classes and for female students to wear full face veils.

TUNIS - A group of Salafists disrupted classes on Monday at a university west of the capital Tunis, demanding a stop to mixed-sex classes and for female students to wear full face veils, officials said.

The mob of Salafists also took hostage the dean of the University of Letters, Arts, and Humanities of Manouba along with several other professors.

One of the professors who witnessed the protest said the group threatened him and verbally abused other professors. The professor called on the protection of the army, but no security forces had yet been confirmed arrived.

“A group of Salafists, dressed like the Afghans, have been camped in front of my office since early afternoon,” Habib Kazdaghli, the dean of faculty at the University of Manuba, said.

The group of several dozen students interrupted an English class in the morning, Kazdaghli said.

“They want girls to wear the niqab, a mosque in the middle of the campus, a stop to mixed classes and a prohibition of women teaching male students and vice versa,” he said, adding that it marked the first such incident on campus.

Tunisia’s Salafists have become more assertive in recent months, following the revolution that ousted a staunchly secular regime along with president Zine el Abidine Ben Ali in January following mass protests.

The ministry of higher education “firmly” condemned the incident, saying that “all recourse to violence is inadmissible and intolerable.”

In regards to policies concerning the niqab, a ministry spokesperson said that “according to current regulations, each student must be able to be identified before accessing the university, for pedagogic and security reasons.”

Visible again on the streets of Tunis and other major cities, their new assertiveness has led to a number of more or less violent clashes.

In the eastern city of Sousse earlier this month, some 200 Islamists stormed the university campus after a female student wearing the niqab, or burka, full face veil was not allowed to sign up.

On October 9 in Tunis, a mob of Salafists tried to attack the offices of private Nessma TV station that aired “Persepolis”, a French-Iranian animation film.

Not for the Muslim. Hypocrisy for the Muslim = acting as a Muslim but in reality not being a believer.

Muslims can do what ever they want and be assured that the only sure way to paradise is to fight and kill for allah:
009.111 **Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: **a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

Oh I would agree that they had reasons (so do the Islamists for that matter).

But good reasons:rolleyes:

An important distinction between Islam and Christianity is that Islam was always (or at least since its founder’s lifetime) an imperial religion (i.e. a religion at least as much about political power as morals or theology) whereas for its first few centuries Christianity was a religion of the poor and downtrodden.

YES! Man’s doing. One more proof that Islam is not from GOD. Compared to the GOD of the Bible allah laid forth very few morals or what could be considered very bad/evil morals.

Yes, Jesus never intended for HIS church to be a political power. Man has failed GOD in respect to what the Catholic Church has developed into.

WHEN is someone going to erase those lustful eyes from the first page?

Boy, they are really beautiful and more than beautiful !

Someone called me fetish lover. I dont know, but they call my attention everytime I open this thread. But what is fetish? Is fetish wrong? To be attracted by a woman’s hands is fetish?

Tell you, if I would see her face, I would not notice her eyes…

But the full chador raises no feelings in me. What about you?

E.g. (not only) in the so-called west young women are potrayed, respectivly viewed, as (merely) physically desirable (by many males), with self- ond socially pressured mutilations (part of which are arguably many contemporary cosmetics), ‘having sex’ is not enough to many (in various aspects, a combo of greed and lust), and a cheated-on wife has been degraded and feels also so when aware of it (which arguably is better than living a false marital romance).
Besides enviromental factors (which partially includes social aspects such as not also unintentionally enticing perverts from afar) outpointed earlier, another side is humiliation. Sure, what feels as humiliating and what constitutes as humiliating may be very different things. So or so, regardless of whether “treatment” of women (in Islamic countries) is seen as systematic humiliation or not, when women are “treated” equally then it leaves little* to no room for individual humiliation (*considering that extramarital sex is, not only, by Islam minimally frowned upon) as in individual women being treated differently male-based on how a woman appears, or for any particular discrimination for that matter (especially with a full body and face veil, hard to exactly tell age, skin, or if it isn’t a guy).
Nevertheless, (mandatory) full face veil makes it rather difficult for women as persons to be able to take part in out of family community life. And another side being that of (emotional effects of) eventual partner mishandling staying kind of hidden, especially in times and places of where shopping happens in large stores, of laundry at home, etc. Regarding extreme demonic cases, I am certainly no fan of a state where every registered family’s, or individual’s, food intake would be measured (except as in food rationing situations), but I do think that something in the lines of a timely-random large-scale curfew search and rescue operation would help to liberate trapped ones.
Back to a few things in this thread about though,
Judaism, Christianity and Islam have a long (common) history, with good and bad times. In the 6th century A.D. e.g. in Yemen, Dhu Nuwas, a Himyarite king, changed the state religion to Judaism and began persecution of Christians, which was followed by an invasion and annexiation by Kaleb, Christian king of Aksum, with encouragement of the Byzantine Emperor Justin I.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-Islamic_Arabia#Kingdom_of_Himyar_.282nd_century_BCE_.E2.80.93_525_CE.29
The mentioned persecution of Christians may have been a ‘revenge’ thing regarding particular persecution of Jews in the Roman Empire pre-313 and afterwards - not excusing this or that.
Furthermore, in particular regarding the 7th century A.D., (in that area) there was the Byzantine Empire and the Sassanid Empire, with various kinds of fighting and wars. Roughly, in some aspects Muhammed could be compared with Qin Shi Huang, though technically the Rashidun Caliphate wasn’t created until after the death of Muhammed and “caliphate” as “representation of the political unity of the Muslim Ummah” and theoretically as “aristocratic-constitutional republic” bound by constitutional and religious law, sounds per se more as being kingdom than empire.
In particular regarding the Constitution of Medina:
“The Constitution established: the security of the community, religious freedoms, the role of Medina as a haram or sacred place (barring all violence and weapons), the security of women, stable tribal relations within Medina, a tax system for supporting the community in time of conflict, parameters for exogenous political alliances, a system for granting protection of individuals, a judicial system for resolving disputes, and also regulated the paying of blood money (the payment between families or tribes for the slaying of an individual in lieu of lex talionis).”
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_Medina
That said, it isn’t as if there would be no room for proper improvement anywhere, but a lot of the bashing, overally on various sites, comes off, in better cases, as nagging or as stupid marital arguing, or, in worse cases, as propagandas similar to the ones nazis used in Germany in the 1930s (and earlier), and I seriously doubt it is in any way or shape helping anyone truly oppressed, but admittedly, at least personally, if any insult hurler has an issue with eventual wife or female relative of mine, I would prefer to have these insults hurled at me, and wearing light clothing in public makes malicious dirt throwers more likely to target me than someone in dark clothing, doesn’t it?

Right there would be the biggest clue that Muslims and Christians are worlds apart.

The Commandment of God is Thy shall not Kill!! God does not contradict himself!!

Funny I never saw the RCC as a Political Power. And it is still not today. When I go to Chuch we only talk about Christ and what is he asking of us?

IMO if the Catholic Church was a political power they would force you to go against your own conscience, It never happned!!

Could you be more clear how you feel Gods Church has failed??? Man does not run the RCC God does, and he will never fail!

What are you trying to say:confused:

Are you excusing the behavior of groups like the Saudis?
Attempting to explain it?
What is your point?
