Terry McAuliffe Leads in Final Polls

Terry McAuliffe is currently leading in exit polls and current results, but MSNBC & CNN are both ruling it Too Early to Call.

CNN says that 39% of voters were Democrats, 30% Republican, and 31% Independent.

The democrats used Bill Clinton, Joe Biden and Obama and outspent the republicans by what–25 to 1?

It’s quite amazing that Cuccinelli is doing so well, all things considered.

What it tells me is that the GOP is looking strong in 2014.

Uh…25 to 1? According to CNN Cuccinelli has spent $20 million, and McAuliffe has spent $34 million. Yep, that’s a disparity, but it’s not out of this world.
 
I’m in Northern Virginia. The polls have been closed for almost an hour with Cuccinelli ahead with 55%, McAuliffe at 37%, and Sarvis at 8%. Early results, but let’s keep on praying. This directly affects us Virginians for sure, but will eventually affect the US as a whole.
 
CNN exit polls were re-weighted based on current results, and McAuliffe is now projected to win 47-45% (though obviously not called in his favor). Cuccinelli could actually pull this off; that’s crazy.

If Cuccinelli wins (and, based upon what I see right now, I doubt he will), it won’t be a statement for him, it will be a statement as to how bad McAuliffe is.

I agree. A lot of Protestant Republicans in the area are scared to death of Cuccinelli over his dislike of divorce and birth control. Most held their nose for him, but some went to Sarvis. But yeah, McAuliffe was a horrible candidate that Democrats felt they could sneak through against a scary opponent.

I actually like Cuccinelli outside his insane wish to ban all climate change research in universities, but I’m also Catholic. The vast majority of people in Virginia are not Catholic.

You do know that McAuliffe is also Catholic, right? Believe it or not, not all Catholics are right wing Republicans.:rolleyes:
 
The fact this race is even close is sending shivers down the spine of every Democrat up for re-election in 2014 And the Obamacare problems will be even worse then.

I’m hardly a right wing Republican. But McAuliffe is not faithful at all to his Church. Christie and Cuccinelli both are.

Edit: Also, 50% of the remaining vote is in heavily liberal NoVa areas. This isn’t looking good for Cuccinelli. It looks like Sarvis made the difference after all though.

And a HUGE Supporter of Abortion ON DEMAND which is a BIG NO NO.

There is no such thing as a Practicing Catholic Democrat Politician that follows the Church’s teachings OVER the party. Only one I know of is Dan Lapinski. That’s ONE.

Charlie Melancon is another. There are many others, especially those who got voted out in 2010 and kept from regaining their seats by Republican gerrymandering 🤷.
