Yup, thatās Fairfax County for you. HUGE population and a lot of paper balloting so they take way longer to get their vote in.Blechhhhhhhā¦
The 7% is huge but without Sarvis on the ballot maybe many of them wouldnāt have voted at all. Still, for a third party, itās significant, no doubt about it.Yup, thatās Fairfax County for you. HUGE population and a lot of paper balloting so they take way longer to get their vote in.
I think itāll be clear that Sarvis was the difference.
I hear ya.It is saddening and puzzling, especially considering McCaulliffe is a Catholic and that so many who are Catholic are gleeful that he prevailed.I fear for my state. If my job wasnāt here Iād seriously consider moving. Then again it is a call to action now for pro-life groups. The country has chosen abortion on demand once again. This after Gosnell. The struggle to change hearts and minds when people are so ready to embrace the worst evil makes me want to :bighanky:
I agree. And I too blame Fairfax (biting the hand that feeds me but I donāt care).I fear for my state. If my job wasnāt here Iād seriously consider moving. Then again it is a call to action now for pro-life groups. The country has chosen abortion on demand once again. This after Gosnell. The struggle to change hearts and minds when people are so ready to embrace the worst evil makes me want to :bighanky:
McCauliffe had Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in Virginia campaigning for him, spent more than $15 million Cuccinelliās campaign, and Cuccinelli is Tea Party candidate who lost by 2.5%! McCauliffe won, but this should be a big wake up call to Democrats, this was not a runaway victory. If Sarvis was not in the race, it is possible that Cuccinelli could of won.Amazing that Cuccinelli was able to finish as strong as he did - considering the massive disparity in campaign $$ - 2-1 in favor of McCauliffe. Also, the 3rd party guy had to take votes away from Cucinelli. This is one of those races where those voting for 3rd party might have helped McCauliffe win.

He got some of his funding from a Obama campaign bundlerIām really interested in finding out more about the funding this third party candidate received, and from whom.
Republican Ken Cuccinelliās unexpectedly strong showing in the Virginia governorās race will make it more difficult for moderate members of the GOP to pull the party toward the center, says Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics.
Polls had shown Cuccinelli down by 7 points to Democrat Terry McAuliffe, but Cuccinelli, a tea party favorite, led vote counts most of the night, with Clinton administration insider McAuliffe pulling out a late victory as bigger cities were counted.
āWhether itās one vote or a million, youāre governor for four years,ā Sabato said. Still, he said, āThe conservative Republicans will certainly take heart from the fact that Cuccinelli has done better than expected.ā
The big story, Sabato said, is Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christieās huge re-election win in a ādeeply blue state.ā Christie took 59 percent of the vote. Heās the first Republican to win statewide with more than 50 percent since George H.W. Bush in 1988.
The United States is so politically polarized that it is remarkable any time a Democrat can win in a heavily red state or a Republican can win in a heavily blue state, Sabato said.
āChristie has shown the way,ā Sabato said. āThe question, again, is whether the Republican activists ā who are mainly social conservatives, tea party people, libertarians ā whether theyāre willing to embrace somebody as moderate-conservative as Chris Christie.ā
Of course! He got some of his funding from a Obama campaign bundler

Itās too late for this year, but I say we should always vote. Especially in āoff-yearā elections and especially for down-ticket races. That is one way we can shape the direction of a party. The down ticket races in particular often feature the people who will eventually move up-ticket to hold positions like Governor or US Representative, etc.I came here today looking for advice! Do I vote or not at all? Because while Cucinelli seems to be the right choice when it comes to abortion, I find suspect his part in the government shut-down, even though heās not an incumbent (and I was just going to not vote for the incumbents whose brilliant idea it was to shut down our countryās government).
To vote or not to vote?! Iām feeling like no vote would be a moral/ethical choice. Even the Libertarian option, Robert Sarvis, isnāt an option with his wishy-washy approach to abortion.
Sigh.![]()
I just donāt understand this. Heās Catholic with 5 children. Pelosi is Catholic with 5 children, etc. etc. They got married, had children, raised them well, obviously are proud of them - but they want everyone else to have abortions!I hear ya.It is saddening and puzzling, especially considering McCaulliffe is a Catholic and that so many who are Catholic are gleeful that he prevailed.![]()
So much for the party of compassion and concern for the little guyI just donāt understand this. Heās Catholic with 5 children. Pelosi is Catholic with 5 children, etc. etc. They got married, had children, raised them well, obviously are proud of them - but they want everyone else to have abortions!
It just reeks of class and race discrimination! I can have my lovely family, but you poor, black or hispanic people all need abortions. Grrrr!!
One report said 10:1 TV advertising.Uhā¦25 to 1? According to CNN Cuccinelli has spent $20 million, and McAuliffe has spent $34 million. Yep, thatās a disparity, but itās not out of this world.
