I understand your frustration. One has to know when to "hold 'em " and know when to “fold 'em” around here. This is hard right wing territory and they won’t listen or investigate no matter what you say. More’s the pity since we all live in the same country and breathe the same air, and alsp drink the same water. But thanks for trying. I have paid attention to your posts. God bless you.
Thanks. And much as people complain about taxes, isn’t it perfectly fair to ask the single guy with no kids who drives a massive SUV for no reason other than perhaps to pretend he’s driving a panzer down the street to pay an extra tax, given that he adds extra pollution to the atmosphere and adding extra cents to the price of gasoline? Seems fair to me.

Perhaps I have a ‘Don Quixote complex.’ Fighting with windmills and all. 🙂

You may be over extending how long it’s ‘worked’, judging by the last 50 years…

It worked just fine for most of that time. After all, we avoided WW3, solved the country’s most egregious racial problems, overcame the Communists, landed on the moon, and maintained a mostly healthy economy until four years ago. All while maintaining a healthy level of gridlock that protected everybody’s freedoms 🙂

Trial lawyers prep for war on Perry

John Coale, a former trial lawyer who has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democrats over the years, agreed that Texas had once been the “golden goose” for plaintiffs’ attorneys.

“Now, the pendulum has swung in the other direction, where it’s a very bad place now,” Coale said.

“If Perry’s the nominee, the trial lawyers will come out of the woodwork to support Obama, where I don’t know that they would now,” he predicted. “Most of the guys I know don’t like [Obama], think he’s screwed up the economy or taken Bush’s bad economy and made it worse. But when your livelihood, your money’s on the line, it concentrates the mind.”

Now I am really sold on Perry.

Have you read Kimmielittle’s posts here??

Have you read any of Gilliam’s posts and graphs?

I was always taught to defend my positions with supported facts and NEVER to vilify the opposition. Name calling was strongly discouraged in my family and in my university (Jesuit).

They do.

Gas Guzzler Tax
The Energy Tax Act of 1978 imposes a Gas Guzzler Tax on manufacturers who sell cars that fail to meet certain statutory fuel economy levels. This tax does not apply to minivans, sport utility vehicles, and pick-up trucks. Congress did not impose a gas guzzler tax on these vehicle types because in 1978, at the time the law was enacted, they represented a relatively small fraction of the overall fleet of passenger vehicles and were used more for business purposes than personal transportation. The tax is collected by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and normally paid by the manufacturer or importer. The amount of the tax paid is displayed on the vehicle’s fuel economy label (the window sticker on new cars).

It didn’t take long for the old “Dominionist” canard to rear its ugly head again. . Why is the Left so terrified of people to take their faith seriously?
I think leftists are alarmed that we hard core right wing religious fanatics can make intelligent observations and back up our views with facts. We actually do read on a daily basis. Some of us even graduated from university.

Right wing ideas must be regulated away. No more adoptions through Catholic Charities. Force people to accept global warming as fact. Force gay studies in schools. Force Government charity.

I think they’re terrified that somebody might come along and make them think about asserting some form of control over their plevic activities…and they by no means want to have to do that. It’s so much more fun to have no limits at all, you see.

Perhaps you can explain why conservative posters can reach the 6,000 to 10,000 posts and liberal posters are lucky to hit 100? Is this merely a coincidence here? I think not.

Gilliam’s posts are the only ones worth reading, IMHO. Kimmielittle quotes partisan hacks and blogs and tries to justify her “research” I don’t buy it.

You don’t have to tell me about Jesuit training since I paid extra for it for my children. It was worth every penney I paid. I guess you missed that social justice orientation, though. Just saying.
