How’s Texas doing in education?
I’ve heard they have among the highest high school dropout rate in the USA. I guess it doesn’t help that Perry says government shouldn’t be involved in education.

You’re definitely right. It’s just so hypocritical that conservatives will complain about judges being liberals but not judges that are conservative
It is. I frankly couldn’t care less whether the Roberts court is so-called strict contructionist or Judicial activist. But as it happens, the Roberts court is judicial activist when it comes to corporate personhood, but completely hands-off when it comes to fetal personhood.

Perry, what an elitist! I guess that means Romney’s the candidate for all thesimple hard-wrokin’ blue collar ordinary Americans, no? 😃

Because a conservative judge does his job, if he’s a true conservative.

MODERATOR NOTICE

This thread is wandering. Please stay on the topic of Gov. Perry Republican candidacy.

Please stop the sarcastic posts, they are considered uncharitable and you will receive infractions for them.

Saw Investors has an interesting piece article on Rick Perry. Seems being the leader in the GOP presidential race has placed a bullseye on him. Will be telling to see how he handles the attacks.

“Left And Right Going Nuclear On Rick Perry”

They are flat-out petrified of Perry and are desperately trying to kill off his candidacy before it can take hold. Why?
Simple. As they suspiciously heap praise on the likes of Jon Huntsman and even Mitt Romney, they increasingly worry that Perry has the best chance to defeat their handpicked socialist messiah now occupying the Oval Office.
With exactly that mission in mind, an editor of a major newspaper told me: “We plan to declare war on Rick Perry and do all in our power to crush him.”
There you have it. No pretense of integrity, professionalism or of unbiased news-gathering. This particular newspaper plans to use its very considerable resources to destroy the Perry campaign before it gains momentum. Period…

You heard? Facts, please. And are you sure he didn’t say the FEDERAL government should not be involved in education? Many believe that schools should be governed by local governments.

This kind of extreme litmus-test pledge for Supreme Court judges is one of the factors that is likely to contribute to Perry’s NOT getting elected if he should be the nominee for President. The other part of the pledge, outlawing late-term abortions WITHOUT any exception (woman’s health, rape, incest) may serve as another nail in his political coffin. This is sure to receive exposure time from the Obama campaign (if not directly by Obama), and combined with voters’ nervousness about their perception of the GOP’s views on privatizing/eliminating Social Security and Medicare, may serve as a sufficient counterbalance in the general election to the economic woes associated with the Obama administration. In short, signing the pledge may be good for Perry in the Republican primaries where he is preaching to the choir, but not in the general election among Democrats and Independents, particularly women.
Have not recent polls shown that the majority favors limits on abortion, timing etc. As to SS and Medicare, the MSM has done a masterful job in convincing too many people that SS and Medicare don’t need reform of some kind. The GOP has never said that it should be stopped immediately but that is what some will say. We continue to spend on those programs that have far exceeding the output that we were told. How much deeper do we want to dig our hole. If people believe this about the GOP, then I think that says more about that voter than it does a party.

Ah, but the GOP managed to use the voter fear of Medicare losses (in the healthcare bill) to their advantage last election. And now the tables have surprisingly turned against them.

There are no cases (none) where a child must be killed via late term abortion to save the life of the mother. Zero. Nada.
Well, that’s why they say “woman’s health” rather than “maternal life.” Danger of death is not required. Woman’s health can mean anything. If she’d become emotionally distressed, or suffer from family conflict, etc, etc, as a result of being pregnant, that would fall under her “psychological health”. No wonder RP opposes such an exception.

I’d support RP unreservedly if he became the nominee, however, I still very much doubt the GOP will put it’s egg in the Texan basket again so soon.

Rick Perry gets my VOTE! No more liberal democrat lies and promises, we need true leadership. Vote for a person not a color!
So then I guess you’re OK with conservative Republican lies and promises? Because you are sadly mistaken if you think they are ANY different.

I’m afraid they are quite different in many many areas.

Perry, an elitist! What a laugh.

He grew up dirt poor. Literally. His parents didn’t own car dealerships.

He went to a state school … Texas A&M. Let the Air Force teach him how to fly cargo planes … nothing flashy there.

Doesn’t sound elitist to me!
