Rather than reporting NEWS, much of the liberal/progressive media reports to control public opinion and votes.
Truth means nothing to them.

Rasmussen Reports released a new survey today of Iowa Republicans showing pro-life Texas Gov. Rick Perry has build a solid lead in the state that is the site of the first presidential battleground next year.

“Confirming a surge seen in polling across the nation, Texas Governor Rick Perry has moved into first place among Republican voters in Iowa, host state to the first-in-the-nation caucus early next year,” Rasmussen indicates.

The Rasmussen telephone survey of those likely to participate in the Iowa GOP Caucus shows that Perry is the first choice for 29%. Essentially tied for second are pro-life Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at 18% and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who is running as a pro-life candidate after formerly supporting abortion, at 17 percent. Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who is pro-life, picks up 14% of the vote but no other candidate receives more than 5 percent of the vote.

As for the other candidates, four percent (4%) support pro-life former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum; four percent (4%) back pro-life Georgia businessman Herman Cain; three percent (3%) favor former pro-life U.S. Ambassador Jon Huntsman, and two percent (2%) support pro-life former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

I think NH should be able to put a fence on the border with Massachusetts to keep those pesky Bostonians out.
 
Rick Perry cut short a trip to South Carolina on Monday to head home to deal with wildfires in his state but got in a shot at Mitt Romney before he left.

“There is no one who’s gonna be sitting on that stage [at the debate in California] who has the record of job creation I have,” Perry said at a packed town hall hosted by Rep. Tim Scott, a popular tea party leader. “There’s one in particular who’s created jobs all around the world. While he was the governor of Massachusetts he didn’t create many jobs.”

The mention of Romney was Perry’s only direct shot at any of his Republican opponents at the event, held at Horry Georgetown Technical College in this Myrtle Beach-area city. For the rest of the hour he spent with the 400 people in the room — organizers said there were also about 25 people in an overflow area — Perry responded to audience-submitted questions with a focus on his small-government policies and attacking President Barack Obama’s record.

He sniped at Obama’s jobs speech scheduled for a joint session of Congress on Thursday, saying the president doesn’t know how to create jobs.

“If the President’s gonna give a jobs speech, he needs to stand up and say, ‘We’re going to repeal Obamacare, we’re gonna repeal Dodd-Frank, we’re gonna stop the EPA from moving forward with any of these regulations they’ve got,’” Perry said, drawing applause.

When asked about stem cell research, Perry plugged his own back surgery that used stem cells: “I am a huge adult stem cell proponent,” he said. “My recovery has been just fascinating. … I hope all of you will educate yourselves as much as possible about adult stem cells.” But he drew a sharp contrast to embryonic stem cell research: “There’s not one cure that’s ever come from them, and there’s not one fetus that needs to be destroyed for that kind of science.”

Perry cast himself as the reluctant presidential candidate.

Rick Perry turned up the heat on Barack Obama in a pair of campaign stops in sweltering New Hampshire yesterday, but claimed he is keeping his cool.

“Somebody said it’s kinda hot here and I went, ‘Nope,’" joked the Texas governor as hundreds of voters beared the afternoon sun in Manchester.

Perry, who concluded his third swing through the Granite State today, sustained his attacks on President Obama. The GOP candidate faulted Obama’s healthcare plan for the dismal employment landscape.

“If the president wants to make a good jobs speech, he needs to stand up in front of the American people and say we’re going to repeal Obamacare,” Perry said to more than 300 voters in Chichester. “Mr. President, you cannot spend your way to prosperity. It doesn’t work; it’s never worked.”

He might be against some tenets of the RCC. But I doubt that he is against every one of them. For example, he is in favor of education of illegal aliens, which is the position of many Catholic bishops also.
 
I am not really sure what the solution is, but I don’t want my tax dollars being spent on education for illegal immigrants or their children. I don’t care what the Church says on the subject. If the Church feels so strongly about it, it should open up more Catholic schools specifically for illegals. Tax payers should not have to fund it.

Not everyone in the country is Catholic. Why should the other 75% of the population in the country follow what the bishops teach? The previous poster is right, if the bishops think it is that big of an issue, compel their parishioners to give more and open more private schools to take care of this need. Stop trying to influence government.

Doesn’t sound very realistic. Out healthcare system is broken. We need a better answer than going back to what we had which wasn’t working. It would be nice to see a candidate with new ideas. Perry also calls himself a Reagan Republican. The last thing we need is more “trickle down” voodoo economics.

“Recognizing that rising deficits, record debt and failed stimulus spending have jeopardized the future of our country, Perry will take his proven budget-cutting record to Washington. He will reform entitlements and require all federal agencies to engage in a top-to-bottom review to identify and eliminate federal waste by justifying every program and every taxpayer dollar spent.”

Reagan was unable to do it. In fact he oversaw the largest expansion of government debt as a percentage of GDP since WW2. Now Obama has the record. I wonder if Perry is being naive. It would be nice to see someone genuinely try to though. The only president who succeeded at this was Clinton.

As citizens we have a right to try to “influence government”.

If you do not like it then you may try to influence government for your self.

Such technology has existed for years; but can you imagine the cost of installing, powering and maintaining more than 1900 miles of those sensors???

Also, you need literally tens of thousands of men manning the sensors to catch whoever goes through, else they will have vamoosed by the time you get there.

The problem isn’t in how to control the borders. This can be effectively done. The problem is the Govenment doesn’t want to take control of the situation. And thats where problem is. Its not for Texas, Arizonia, New Mexico, Calif, to arrive at what each believe they can afford to do, or how each should handle it. Which has turned into a Wild West show.

The military really ought to take over the entire border control with a consistant plan. Rick Perrys ideas are actually very good in this regard. However he’s way over the top with sending military into Mexico.:eek:

Look at all the troops doing 2-4 year hitchs stationed here in the states? Put them on the foot patrol on the borders, supported by fencing at hot spots, thus command posts. No different than what we do with enemy hot spots.

Trust me they “know” how to control it, its the Obama adminstrations utter failure “also” in this area, being the central issue. To be polite I won’t tell you what I really think of Obama.

He’s more worried about the total conversion and control of Monarchy, Aristotlism, and Democracy, which basically mimicks the Catholic Church and how the government of this country is constructed.

The “problem” comes when you have one at the top like Obama who’s agenda isn’t to be the Servant of Servants. Which is his job “WE THE PEOPLE” and the correct definition of “justice” by Socrate’s, and our founding fathers in the D of I, thus our constitution. Obama has no concern for NONE of this. His concern is “his” aganda, not the people’s. Which is “why” he has constantly abused and ignored the US Constitution and Congress.

Had Obama surfaced during Jeffersons period, what do you suppose would have become of him???
