I am going to (if my work schedule permits me so) to take RCIA classes next month. I am going to try to force myself to believe in all the doctrines. So that I can be obedient. Even though I get the hives and nervousness when I go to Mass because I feel creeped out. I can go through the motions mechanically, until my heart catches on. Then I am going to smile at other Christians and tell them that their faith is based on a lie and for selfish reasons they are not in the Catholic Church and then I am going to tell them that the CC is founded by Jesus and theirs is man made. Then when they tell me why they don’t agree with the Church, I will call them anti-Catholic. Then I can be on the same boat with all the other self-righteous Catholics.
As long as you mock the truth, you won’t be likely to advance toward accepting the truth. It’s clear that the Holy Spirit is not leading you to be “creeped out” by Catholic mass. I love the mass, as it’s the most important thing I do all week. As Archbishop Fulton Sheen famously stated “There aren’t 100 people in America who truly hate the Catholic Church. But there are millions who hate what they think is the Catholic Church.” It’s not self-righteous to promote truth, and the way things are. We can’t pretend to promote unity by bending the truth to accommodate one who is not comfortable with the truth. It’s one’s responsibility to promote the truth as it was given to us by Christ. The claims of the Catholic Church can seem wild when all one knows is the man made churches. The Catholic Church is set apart as a becon of light, which cannot be hidden. Christ made bold claims as well, if one compares him with an average man. We know, however, that He was no average man…, but he was the Word made Flesh. For any other man to make these claims is heresy. Likewise, any other church would be lying who made all the claims of the Catholic Church. The claims of the Catholic Church are true. Please don’t treat it the same as a man made church, because it was built by Christ, just as He said He would. How does one know they are lost without a map? The Catholic Church is a beacon of light that guides the way home for the Christian.

I am sorry if some of post seemed Anti-Catholic. I am at a cross road in my life and some Catholics were forceful about what they believe(saying that my beliefs are a lie etc, or if I disagreed I was Anti-Catholic) and others were more compassionate and understanding(which I do appreciate). I am seriously considering taking RCIA(I am not being faciceous(excuse the spelling) I do not have to commit if I am enrolled. I can learn, what do I have to lose from learning). I let my anger speak paint everyone in the same light and for that I do apologize.

Carjack,

I realize you are being facetious when you talk about joining RCIA. But, RCIA is a good place to bring up your issues (assuming you are in a good parish, not all of them have good programs). If you are not ready, it may not be time. The important thing is to be close to the Lord in prayer and earnest in your surrender to His Will for you.

Posters on this thread can be preachy and insensitive. Don’t take it personally. You are doing just fine. Go where the Spirit leads you, and forget “human respect”, as St. Francis deSales put it. Be willing to follow the Lord into the jungles, if need be. Then, you will be on the right track. :getholy:
👍 Great Post.

As long as you mock the truth, you won’t be likely to advance toward accepting the truth. I am not mocking, I don’t like being force fed by other people It’s clear that the Holy Spirit is not leading you to be “creeped out” by Catholic massI am creeped out, if you are not, good for you. I love the mass, as it’s the most important thing I do all week. As Archbishop Fulton Sheen famously stated “There aren’t 100 people in America who truly hate the Catholic Church. You already made your point, more than once. I get why you believe what you do It’s one’s responsibility to promote the truth as it was given to us by Christ.Maybe once, but force feeding is not a good method. my opinion though The claims of the Catholic Church can seem wild when all one knows is the man made churchesIt’s not all I know. Let’s not forget others are Christian beside Catholics, or are you one of those people who feel that they are not, even though CC doctrine refers to them as seperated brethren

My family is Catholic as well, and they really don’t know much about the Church. It was sad for me when I found out how little they really know. Understanding the Catholic faith and dogma is not as easy as a simple man made faith or dogma. What you’ve indicated to me is that you don’t understand the Church either, else you would have written much differently. You’ve shown us all what you know and don’t know. Therefore, I don’t assume anything, because I’ve taken you at your word, and your word indicates typical positions consistent with and preferring fundamentalist or Bible-only beliefs. This is itself is unscriptural. Anyone who truly understands the Catholic Church would not have said and indicated the things you have. You have a lot of work to do to really understand the Church, which is the one Bride of Christ and the one Body of Christ.

I don’t see how us telling the truth is force-feeding. It’s simply being laid out there by one (and more) who protect truth. No one is holding you down and forcing anything. You are here of your own free will. If I didn’t tell you these things, I would be lying. Who is the greater friend, one who as wittingly or unwittingly told you a lie, or one who shares the beautiful truth? I believe God has a preference in this matter, otherwise He would not have made an infallible teaching Church, but allowed us to make up our own truths. We know what God has done, and the truth matters. Additionally, it’s not “my truth” as I didn’t make this up. The “my truth,” “your truth,” their truth," comes directly from people believing they can interpret things like Sacred Scriptures by themselves (private interpretation by the way, is unscriptural according to inspired author and first pope Peter).

The point is that if an average man made the claims that Christ did, it would be heresy. Likewise, if a man made church made all the claims of the Catholic Church, that man made church would be lying. The Catholic Church is the true Church built by Christ, so like Christ it is often misunderstood when comparing with man made churches. If Jesus is worshipped falsely, then is that good? Why do you want a substitute for the Church Christ built? What I also indicated was that the things you have indicated about the Church, like being creeped out by mass, are an indication of a combination of misunderstanding and lack of understanding about the Church and Mass.

I don’t assume how the Holy Spirit works, but know how the Trinity is and know that they are a perfect union (Consubstantial), who do not oppose One Another. The Holy Spirit can work outside the Church. However, He will not work against the Church that Christ built. He will not lead you away from the Church Christ built. If you’re insinuating that all churches are equal, simply because they portend to worship Christ, you are completely and sadly mistaken.

Christ is present in His Church like He is present nowhere else. It’s only in the Catholic Church that you can know you have true and infallible teaching. **Can your church guarantee that? ** The Catholic Church can and does! We all wait for your response.

The Catholic Church was built for all Christians, without exception. It’s by man’s hard-headedness and arrogance that they created their own to worship as they desire, rather than where and how God has asked us. It is great and utter arrogance to believe that a man can create a church and doctrine better than God. This is what the man made churches in reality are claiming, whether they are conscious of this or not. I would do a great disservice and be a liar if I told you otherwise.

In order for someone to perceive something is being forced against their will, when in fact it is simply being laid out there, it means the person is not a willing recipient. You seem to have come here looking to be coddled, instead of being willing to listen to and consider truthful statements and concerns. I don’t apologize for not coddling you and not telling you you’re doing the right thing by staying out of the Church built by Christ. I will continue to state the truth, no matter how many times it is denied in public by others. It’s what a Catholic Apologetic does. Being a Catholic Apologetic is the easiest thing in the world, because we don’t have to invent things, but go with what is there.

People who have incorrect dogma and doctrine worship (meaning worship services and practices) falsely in their beliefs about Christ. St Jerome (who translated Scriptures from Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic into Latin Vulgate) said ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. How can one worship properly if one is ignorant of the true and real interpretations of Scripture as meant by the Holy Spirit. Only the Catholic Church is guaranteed to have infallible interpretations. We never heard you say that about any Bible-only man made church! Is your interpretation or your pastor’s interpretation guaranteed to be infallible? Mine is not, that’s why I have learned what the Catholic Church actually teaches. Any time there is a question, I give the Pope and Magisterium the benefit of the doubt…, which turns out to always be correct.

It’s my job to tell you the truth, and it’s your prerogative to accept or not accept the truth. You have indicated that presentation of truth is considered force-feeding and will not be considered, because it is against your will. I believe you have therefore closed your mind to the truth about Christ.

Explaining my understanding about the Holy Trinity had nothing to do with you. There was never a claim that you said something you didn’t. Don’t understand why anyone would interpret it that way.

You once again accuse of pushing beliefs on you. How is that possible? That you interpret this as being against your will simply indicates you have no will to open your mind and even consider things people say.

Please recognize the difference between PORTEND and PRETEND… two very different words.

No need to assume on my part… it’s all laid out there very clearly and plainly for people, and easily seen. If you came to this site hoping to be coddled and told that it’s okay to leave RCIA because every church is the same… and you are not willing to understand the Church, then you came to the wrong place. I had some beliefs once that were leaning a little Protestant, and a Priest at the Vatican got on me for it. I thought initially he was unnecessarily hard on me, and being a bit picky. Afterward, I studied the particular issues very diligently to determine what was truth. Now, I look back and recognize him as one of the best friends I have ever run into. He gave me a wonderful gift of getting on the right track with dogma and doctrine in several areas, which helped with the larger picture. If you want to be coddled, and told all churches are the same, I recommend you go to a Protestant site. Catholics know better!

No, I don’t think you really do get it, but you make your bed, so you sleep in it. Yse, it’s my truth in the sense that I find and adopt the truth Christ set out for us.

Apologetic is one who makes a reasoned defense of his religion. I do this among many other things. Many on this board are doing the same thing, whether they realize it or not.

The Holy Spirit established this and believes it as well.

Not that I say so, but that I agree so and have found it to be true. It’s because I respect God and the Church He has established. Are you going to answer the question? Is your interpretation or your pastor’s interpretation guaranteed to be infallible?

You’ve characterized yourself by what you have said you believe and don’t believe. You can’t really know Christ by believing in false Scriptural interpretations. Only in the Catholic church are we guaranteed to have God’s Word taught free from error in faith and morals. If you love Christ like you say you do, then why do you risk misunderstanding Scripture by learing outside of the infallible teaching Church? This doesn’t make sense to me. If you don’t want to join the Church, then please read the Catechism, which is a wonderful companion to the Bible. It will help you stay on the right track with Scripture.

You’re quite wrong. The Catholic Church is the only Church built by Christ. That alone should be enough to establish how it compares with the man made churches. Our Church is far superior… It’s inside the Church that we can have the Word of God guaranteed to be free from error in faith and morals. It’s in this Church that we see and have Christ present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity like He is nowhere else on earth in the Holy Eucharist. We have the other true Sacraments, like confession to a priest. Some people avail themselves of the incomparable gifts in the Catholic Church and some do not. The ones who do can have an incredible relationship with Christ. The ones who don’t, either inside or outside the Church will miss out.

Most assuredly, he was biased toward Christ and His Church. Thank God for that!

Bottom line… if you really love Christ, why reject His Church?

No, I don’t think you really do get it, but you make your bed, so you sleep in it. Yse, it’s my truth in the sense that I find and adopt the truth Christ set out for us. According to the CC standards

Apologetic is one who makes a reasoned defense of his religion. I do this among many other things. Many on this board are doing the same thing, whether they realize it or not. OK

The Holy Spirit established this and believes it as well.
Let’s not forget the HS is outside of the CC as well

Not that I say so, but that I agree so and have found it to be true. It’s because I respect God and the Church He has established. Are you going to answer the question? Is your interpretation or your pastor’s interpretation guaranteed to be infallible? No, but neither is the CC

You’ve characterized yourself by what you have said you believe and don’t believe. You can’t really know Christ by believing in false Scriptural interpretationsIn your opinion. Only in the Catholic church are we guaranteed to have God’s Word taught free from error in faith and moralsI get it. You believe the CC is free from error… If you love Christ like you say you do, then why do you risk misunderstanding Scripture by learing outside of the infallible teaching Church? This is your opinion that it is infallible. I don’t believe that the CC is infallible. I love Christ, not the CC. This doesn’t make sense to me.It wouldn’t if you can’t respect the fact that the HS works outside of the CC. If you don’t want to join the Church, then please read the CatechismI have. Thanks for the referral though. I have it from the Catholic School I have attended, which is a wonderful companion to the BibleI even have a Catholic Bible. It will help you stay on the right track with Scripture.

You’re quite wrong. The Catholic Church is the only Church built by Christ. So Catholics believe That alone should be enough to establish how it compares with the man made churchesThis is a good point if one believes Christ established the CC. Our Church is far superiorNo surprise that you feel that way!.. It’s inside the Church that we can have the Word of God guaranteed to be free from error in faithMade this point already. One has to agree that it is infallible and morals. This last sentence i do agree with. Miracles can happen.

Most assuredly, he was biased toward Christ and His Church. Thank God for that!

Bottom line… if you really love Christ, why reject His Church?I don’t agree it’s His Church. But I love Christ, which is why I am deciding not to be a Catholic, but Christian.
