I see JWs as cultists hell-bent on rules and loyalty to an organization that tries so hard to project itself as loving everyone and tolerant of everyone yet disfellows people for the stupidest things and treats their own family members like **** once they’re disfellowed.

In sorry, but where’s the Christianly behavior to that?!?! :confused: Christ never did any of that.

I ask myself the same question… but like always, they come back to you with some quotes from the Bible where it “says” to stop talking to them…

I have told my DH many times that the CC would never do that to him, and no priest would tell his sins to the rest of the Church, but somehow (something I don’t understand) he is happy where he’s at, or at least they make him think he’s happy…:mad:
 
I’m in the office and don’t have a copy of the Bible here,
but where it “says” in the Bible not to talk to a person,
it is referring to a preacher who is going around preaching
heresy (which is what they are doing). It’s in one of Saint Paul’s letters, and he says not to even say God Speed You to such a person because that would be sharing in his wicked works (of spreading falsehoods).

It doesn’t refer to their cruel practice of shunning a repentant disfellowshipped person for a year or more.

They are nuts.

no, those aren’t the posts I was referring to but they are significant. JWs disfellowship and shun people who have gone to the elders, confessed, and are trying to repent.
People trying to repent usually fall a few more times before they get it right. The JWs don’t take into account peoples’ weaknesses and emotional illnesses (such as depression, etc., which can weaken a person’s resolve).
They don’t merely do it do defiant, brazen, wicked people.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

what you describe here is exactly what I was talking about… I cannot recall the book, chapter, nor verse those are in.
 
According to my bible, the 144,000 is the square of twelve (the number of Israel’s tribes) multiplied by 1000, symbolic of the new Israel that embraces people of every race, nation, people and tongue. Judah is placed first because of Christ " the lion of the tribe of Judah." Dan is omitted because of a later tradition that the antichrist will arise from it.

Tradition also states that Judas descended from the tribe of Dan. Dan was also the first tribe that fell into idol worship.

Dan seems to represent all those who are unfaithful to God and are excluded from eternal glory.

Question:

Why do you focus on the fact that the disfellowshipped one is shunned, rather than focusing on the fact that they are disfellowshipped because they were unrepentant wrongdoers?

Your point of view is like complaining that people are put in prison rather than focusing on that they were put in prison because of their crimes.

And the religion is not bent on rules and loyalty to the organization, (as if that was bad), but on serving God.

If it were, why is my sister allowed to have unrestricted time with her son, who is definitely an unrepentant sinner but never joined the Witnesses, but not with her disfellowshipped daughter?

You Cannot Take 144,000 Literally. It Is Referring In Revelation To A Remnant From Each Of The 12 Tribes Of Israel. We Do Know Of 12 Tribes. Don’t Read Into The Actual Number. John Is Likely Referring To A Remnant Of Israelis That Will Be Around During The So-called Tribulation-rapture-second Coming.
