The Republican presidential field is set.
This probably doesn’t mean the speculation is over, but as of today, anyone who jumped in would not appear on the ballot in the Florida primary — complicating a late, long-shot bid a great deal.
AP: Florida Republican voters will get to choose between nine presidential contenders during next year’s primary.
The Republican Party of Florida on Monday submitted the names of nine candidates for the Jan. 31 ballot: Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

So let’s do the poll!

No reason to vote. By the time my state has its primary, only a few will be left. I’ll wait to see what my real choices are.

Ron Paul is the only candidate with the consistency to earn my vote on that list. The fact that the mainstream media has tried so hard to black him (and him alone) out says one thing to me: He could bring about real change.

I did not vote, since I still have no clear reason to prefer one over another at this point. In any case; I live in California, and am registered with the Libertarian party, But for the record, if required to vote for some GOP nominee, I would ask who has the best Libertarian credentials.🤷🤷🤷

I would love for it to be either Newt or Herman Cain, but realistically I know it will probably end up being Romney. Despite my reservations about his commitment to Christian, conservative values and his Mormon faith, I will vote for him if he is nominated. We cannot have four more years of Obama.

That’s how I feel and am sticking to it. 😃

So, just to some this up: In an election in which the incumbent is quite vulnerable due to his mismanagement and ideology, and in an election in which defeating the incumbent is vital to beginning the long road to restoring the economy and getting some fiscal discipline, as well as stopping the assault on the sanctity of life, we have an underachieving field of candidates and some also rans:

Perry: who makes his fellow Texan, W. Bush sound like Winston Churchill, Cain: who is mired in controversey and not an authority on foreign policy, and Romney: the moderate turned conservative who can’t seem to close the sale. And a bunch of also rans. Among the also rans, I support Gingrich and Santorum.

Well that would be Ron Paul for sure.

I’m going for Perry. I’m sure some people would call me a ‘racist’, even though that makes no sense in this context, but I don’t trust Romney. He calls himself a Christian, but I think that at best, he’s simply ignorant and misled. And frankly, his politics aren’t conservative enough for my liking.

If Perry has such a tough time in debates now and on the stump, how do you think he’ll fare in a general election against Obama? He doesn’t seem like a very strong candidate - in fact, he’s one of the weaker candidates in a field of weak candidates. The only thing he really has going for him is his fundraising and a pretty strong record as governor. But is that enough?

Despite my petty reservations about Cain and Romney, they are all vastly superior to our president of death we have now. I will support any of them, even if it makes me physically ill to vote for them.

It worked for W. But I really don’t know if he’s electable. I just know I’m not going to vote for the lesser of two evils. That’s not to say that any of the Republican candidates are close to perfect, but I just don’t have any confidence in most.

Romney, Cain, Gingrich - i would like to see 2 of these men on the GOP presidential ticket and vice presidential ticket. at least, that is how i feel tonight. i haven’t decided who i want yet for president or vice president. i think by january i will have a better idea.
i don’t know how many more debates are left.

Newt Gingrich all the way!!!

We shouldn’t have to settle for Romney. And, we sure shouldn’t have to settle for Rick Perry.

Mitt Romney has been the frontrunner for the whole race. He could’ve shut down any chance his opponents have had if he could appeal to the true conservatives that are the base of the Republican party. But, for whatever reason between 70 and 80% of the Republican base has refused to support Romney as the nominee.

To the end of finding a more conservative, more principled person that Romney… we’ve had the rise and fall of Bachman, Perry, and now it’s going to be Herman Cain that falls. But, I don’t think it’s any surprise.

So, I say it’s time for Newt Gingrich to finally emerge as the top-tier anti-Romney candidate. The only differentce between him and the other 3 that have held that fatal position… he’s not going to crack under the pressure. When people scrutinize and examine Newt Gingrich, he’s going to command their respect. And not make them run for the hills.

For whatever Bachman, Perry, and Cain lacked, I ask what does Newt Gingrich lack?

He’s the smartest guy in the field. One gets the sense that they can actually entrust managing the country’s problems to him, and he’ll know what to do on all of them. He’s got the proven track record, and the core guiding principles as well.

So, what’s not to like about Gingrich? His chances?

His campaign has 2 very positive signs on the ground right now:
  1. He raised $113,000 two days ago, the most in any day yet. Let’s consider that the first 3 months of his campaign he raised $800,000. So, money is getting a lot better.
  2. He just polled 2nd in North Carolina with 22% (behind Cain), and 3rd in Maine with 18% (behind Romney and Cain). So… it looks like he’s going to rise in national polls. Nationally so far he’s averaged 10%, and hasn’t gotten any higher than 15% in a single poll. But, I think that is going to change soon.

I’ve heard that between 12 debates, 14, 16, and 18 debates are left.

So, whatever the number is… it’s a WHOLE LOT of them. And, I think you’re right, it’s going to be most likely be fight between Romney, Cain, and Gingrich. We’ll have to see who comes out on top. [with an off chance of Perry]
