A passport I think.I thought that there was a legal requirement for a document of some sort to cross from Mexico to USA?

You can use an S-Passort card or many of the border states have an RFID encoded drivers licence that works.A passport I think?
And what about the border with Canada? Your reasoning simply does not apply because the standard of living of Canada is about the same as in the USA. And the only reason that there are narco-terrorists in Mexico is because of the people in the USA who are purchasing illegal narcotics such as mary jane, cocaine, and others as many American law enforcement officers wink at this. In fact the President of the United States has said that he has used cocaine, and according to the book by Joe McGinnis “Rogue” there were other high politicians who have used illicit drugs and thereby lended support to the narco-terrorists who you describe. That is a fair question but its not as simple as you frame it. I think you have to look at the difference between the countries that comprise the EU and the countries south of the American border. In Europe, the countries are modern, wealthy, first world countries. I could be wrong, but its hard to imagine hordes of Belgians trying to sneak into France, or hordes of Germans trying to sneak into Austria to get a better life. On the other hand, you have Mexicans and other poor, 3rd world countries trying to enter America illegally to get jobs and make money - to improve their lives. It is totally appropriate for America to set the rules and parameters regarding orderly immigration into their country. If the borders were open as you advocate, then the infrastructure would be overwhelmed. We can handle immigration, but it has to be in proportion to what we can handle and should be legal. So its not quite fair to compare the EU with America. It would be nice if Mexico could clean up its act and have a country that people would want to stay and live in. As it is, Mexico is full of corruption and narco-terrorists.

The Canadian border used to be very open. I remember crossing into British Columbia with friends and when they asked why we were entering, we said, “we’re here for a good time.” I think much of the difficulty now entering Canada is due to terrorism. As for why the increase in red tape to enter Canada now, well, you’ll have to ask the Canadians. We certainly have a right to scrutinize people entering the U.S. from Canada. There was a terrorist caught trying to enter Washington State from Canada who was planning to bomb the Space Needle on New Years day. He was caught because we don’t have open borders. And what about the border with Canada? Your reasoning simply does not apply because the standard of living of Canada is about the same as in the USA. The USA calls for freedom and liberty in the Europ;ean community, but it does not want that same freedom and liberty for people in Noth America to move across borders freely and without hindrance.
Europe has terrorists also and yet the USA has been going around saying it supports the European community. The last time I heard, was that the Schengen agreement created the borderless Schengen area of Europe, which today consists of 25 European countries. It allows for travel without a passport and without border controls between the countries. Why should the USA restrict the freedom and liberty of people in North America and demand that they pass through border controls from Mexico or from Canada? Under the cold war the Americans were going around talking about the Iron Curtain countries. But now who is it that is talking about building a wall between Mexico and the USA? Will there be soldiers there with machine guns, ready to shoot, as there were in the Iron Curtain countries? The Canadian border used to be very open. My reasoning does apply to Mexico, though, doesn’t it? Don’t you see that America’s situation is way different than Europe’s situation and therefore it makes no sense to expect AMerica to have open borders the way Europe does?

Lol. What a joke. Have you no knowlege of history? The Iron curtain countries killed people who wanted to leave. USA, on the other hand, has to limit the influx of people trying to get in. See the diff? I certainly hope so.Why should the USA restrict the freedom and liberty of people in North America and demand that they pass through border controls from Mexico or from Canada? Not ready to shoot, but ready to shoot back. Some are already there and if you point a gun at them they will shoot you. We have a right to prevent people from illegaly entering our country with a main goal of executing some form of illegal activies whether it is selling drugs or blowing people up.Europe has terrorists also and yet the USA has been going around saying it supports the European community. It is that way now. But after the wall with the electric fence is put up, how do you know whether or not this might change?Lol. What a joke. Have you no knowlege of history? Selling drugs? Who are they selling these drugs to and who is buying them Last time I checked, I read that Americans are one of the biggest users of illegal drugs in the world today. And it involves not a few American politicians who have admitted to using illegal drugs. If America is so much against Mexico and the illegal drug trafficking, why then do so many Americans buy these drugs in the first place? Actually, it is America who is creating the problem for Mexico since so many Americans are using illegal drugs. And Americans are even making movies where people use illegal drugs on screen. And no one raises a finger to stop it but they go on and on about how bad the narco terrorists are in Mexico. We have a right to prevent people from illegaly entering our country with a main goal of executing some form of illegal activies whether it is selling drugs or blowing people up.
Cut off the electricity and blow a hole in the fence and make our way to Venezuela to live the South American dream. It is that way now. But after the wall with the electric fence is put up, how do you know whether or not this might change?
The trade imbalance comes about since America is importing more than it is exporting. When was the last time you bought something which was not made in China?DEBT!!!
THE MAJOR ISSUE IS DEBT!!!
Regulation is second.
We can likely handle what comes next, if we are not overburdened with GOVERNMENT debt.
We import a lot of oil. Mostly because OUR GOVERNMENT will NOT allow us to produce what we need; neither drilling nor refining (this last is mostly cogent in developing new fields, rather than the aggregate). Secondly, because the government allows us to refine more oil that we produce, about a quarter of the oil we import is refined and exported.
Certain industries (agriculture, aviation, etc.) if one wants to export, they can expect at least a 6 month legal action to define which federal acronym has jurisdiction over their desired persuit. That adds unreasonable cost to doing business. Manufacturers have taken the hint, and moved aborad.
How can we allocate money for “nation building” nearly half way around the world, and not allocate money to secure our borders?
We incarcerate a small minority of “drug offenders” at great cost to the taxpayers; and MUCH greater cost to these alleged “offenders”. And continue to allocate more money for this grave injustice.
What I am trying to say is that the mainstream politicians of BOTH parties are not cutting the mustard. We need to look outside the box (of failure).
You would not be able to do that without the possibility of facing a soldier armed with a machine gun. Is this what America is all about? Walls at the borders and armed soldiers with machine guns protecting those borders?Cut off the electricity and blow a hole in the fence and make our way to Venezuela to live the South American dream.![]()
I don’t disagree, which is why I want to secure the border…Selling drugs? The EU has its good points but bad negative things too. It has destroyed the monetary systems within each country, the Euro has been an abject failure. There is an argument that being part of the EU destroys national and cultural identity because of the blending into one union. Canada, Mexico and the USA already trade. You don’t need a European Union style system for that to continue to happen. And what about the border with Canada?
