**I have been attending an 1.5 hour long, weekly study of Revelation over the course of the past 2.5 years at my nondenominational church.

It is my intention within this thread to share what I’ve learned from the Book, in terms that are easy to understand.

Ok…let’s get started:

1st Beast:
World Ruling System vs. God

2nd Beast:
False Prophet vs. Jesus

3rd Beast:
Babylon vs. Church

Chapter 13 is only 18 verses long. You can read it at: nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/revelation/revelation13.htm

what a waste of time when you could have been participating in a Catholic bible study during the same period, and then you would have the beginning of an understanding of what Revelation actually says, rather than an agenda-laden anti-Catholic rant. no, I should not say that, it is never a waste of time to study scripture, but doing it under the guidance of someone who has separated themselves from the direction of the Holy Spirit, which is guaranteed on earth only through the Catholic Church, is dangerous at worst and less than fruitful at best.

Any bets that this is just going to be another rehash of the same ole same ole anti-Catholic propaganda that we’ve heard before?
. . . rather than an agenda-laden anti-Catholic rant.
**I understand the edgy-defensive replies to my original post. Can we possibly get beyond it?

Rule #1 within this thread:
I am going to avoid chomping down on any anti-catholic bait.

You might not head towarrds anti-Catholic attacks, yet you have been in an anti-Catholic study for a long time. Why should any good Catholic want to discuss false interpretations?

I understand the edgy-defensive
replies to my original post. Can we possibly get beyond it? No you don’t. And no we cannot since the links that I have supplied more than answer your upcoming deluge of propaganda. It bunk…it’s been well and truly refuted many times before by many many Catholics and the only people who propagate this hooey are those who twist interpretations of the Word of God to suit their own carnal thinking.

Get beyond it? I don’t think so since you are the one coming into a Catholic forum with the agenda to disparage our most holy faith with some supposed “Bible study” from some “non-denominational church”. If we wanted to see that kind of stuff we wouldn’t be Catholics to begin with.🤷

You’re welcome to present it, but if you think I’m not gonna rip your rhetoric to shreds and praise God for the opportunity then you are dreaming.

You don’t make the rules here dude, they are found in the Forum Rules and Banned Topics Policy that you agreed to when you joined us here. The fact is that you act like your stuff is some new insight when in fact it’s just more of the same.

Read over those three links and then tell me if there’s anything new in your “study” that isn’t already answered in those articles. I know that all my Catholic brothers and sisters and I are just waiting with baited breath. (NOT).

Hey Tom…look over his post history…he was messed up before he ever did this study.:rotfl:

That “Bible study” was probably entitled "The 3 Beast of Rev. 13…in the Catholic Church so you can go tell them all to “come out from among her.”

**As a student of the bible, I always ask an elementary question regarding a particular text or subject:

'What is the greek word in the original text of the new testement?" - - (hebrew if it is from the old testement)

Now the English word ‘beast’ of Rev. 13:1 is from the greek word therion - thay-ree’-on. a dangerous animal:–(venomous, wild) beast.

Regarding the Parts of Speech – therion or beast is a Noun and Neuter. For a word to be neuter, it is cannot be male or female. Christ is always masculine gender, the church is always feminine gender in the new testement. If the beast is neuter gender, and it is, it stands opposed to Christ and the church.

**

If the beast is neuter gender, and it is, it stands opposed to Christ and the church.
So then the beast cannot be the Catholic Church. Great 👍

…But everyone here already knew this.

God bless

I looked at your link which uses the New American Bible and so far I haven’t seen anything outrages so keep going.

**Continuing with the importance of the gender of a word, let’s look at:

Eph 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

Christ - masciline
Church - feminine

Christ=husband
Church=wife

The English word church comes from the greek word ekklesia (ek-klay-see’-ah) – which means to be called out.

The wife of Christ is the church, which is called out of the material world to reside with Him, spiritually.

The beast, because it is an it, not a she, has no spiritual life.

2 Peter 2:12
But these people, like irrational animals born by nature for capture and destruction, revile things that they do not understand, and in their destruction they will also be destroyed,

The English word animals is a translation from the original greek word Zoon. Drop the ‘n’ and we get our word zoo. Zoon is Neuter Gender. Also, irrational is translated from the greek word Alogos. Logos is more commonly translated into word in the new testement. When you put an ‘a’ before a greek word, it gives it an opposite meaning.

Joh 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Hence, the beast was not given the Word or Logos. The beast is not with God. It stands opposed. It hates what it does not understand, it wants to destroy.

to be continued . . .

oh yes, I love the book of Revelation, other than the Eucharist, the church’s teaching of St. John’s revelation is what is drawing me to my conversion.

If you would love to study more, I would highly recomend the book “Coming Soon” by Michael Barber, it goes through the entire book verse by verse, going back to the original language, and explaining and reading the parralel text with the letters of the prophets from the Old Testament. My uncle is a theologian and is good friends with Mr. Michael.

also, where is your material from the Bible study being drawn from? is it a personal study or from an online source? I am just curious because I love reading and studying all I can.

Primarily, the source for studying Revelations comes from the Old Testement. I once heard an acedemic lectuerer state that there are over 600 OT references in the Book.

A great online source is searchgodsword.org/. After you find the verse you are looking for, you can click on an English word within the verse and the search engine will post the greek word for the NT and the hebrew word for the OT. **

**Now . . . . if the beast stands opposite of Christ, how will a believer recognize it?
By its character.

Rev 13:17
and it provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Rev. 19:20

by which it deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image

The word mark comes from Charagma (khar’-ag-mah). We get our word character from it. **

Dear tabcom,

There is the Trinity, Father, Son, who is Incarnate, and the Holy Spirit, who Sanctifies.

So then there is a diabolical trinity:

I. Satan, the Father of Lies

II. the Beast, which is the “incarnation” of his lies made present in human history, that is, in its ultimate sense, the Beast represents the manifestation of the lie of sin as it has occurred many times throughout the, both in the Old and New Testaments

III. The False Logos is the spiritual embodiment of the lie, the total opposite of sanctification. Hence, as the Holy Spirit illumines our intellects with truth and strengthens us through sacntifying grace, so the false logos utterly denies any need of illumination from God and any need of grace. It tells you that you are your own god and that you can find and forge your happiness and fulfillment without anything from God, that is, purely materialistically.

You might read these:

The Lamb, the True Logos, and the Second Beast, the False Logos

Tabcom,
Have you ever studied Rev 13 from a Preterist viewpoint?

Tabcom,

**No. I am not a Preterist.

From preterist.org: “We believe Scripture teaches Christ would come again in that first century generation while some of His original disciples were still alive, to judge the living and the dead.”

There is much I could say that argues against the preterist view. However, I don’t want to get off topic.**
