at last count the source you all pull the 33,000 number from states about 8-9000. Plus 250 catholic or so and about 900 orthodox if my memory serves me right…
So if thats your source then we must say there are 200+ catholic as well.
Furthermore I don’t believe in organized religion, if you want to know what HE said read the book.
Whatever final number you come up with, add 1 more for your unorganized religion.

I now believe in organized religion because it is so much better than chaotic religion…at least for me.

But to each their own:) Proverbs 14:12

God bless all!!!

I agree. Whether the number is 33000, 3300, 330, 33 or 3, it’s still too many, which is the main point. Arguing about the number is often beside the point.
Funny there has long been more than one church even before the schism.

Christ is the bride groom of the Church and Church is the Bride. There is 1 Church (true) and anything outside is man made. If you read the Bible it would tell you about the one true church and that 1 did exist before the schism and 1 exists today. Like another poster said anything outside Catholicism is a denomination (not church). I am highly doubting that you even own a Bible or have read it. You obviously don’t know how to enter an argument and defend yourself.

hmm. Same column for Independent 22,148 and 48,341

Still insufficient source. This doesn’t prove how many overall denominations there are because either you haven’t provided the whole report or they didn’t provide the whole report for you to look at and NO grand total. Plus words are cut off and such in the document that was included, thus making it hard to read
Your guys state PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS and the main apologist use this as the source of the number…This source says protestant—9490…
Admit it using this is deceptive.

Which is it then?
Why did certain parts of this “Church” have a different canon?
If the “Church” had authority and Sacred Tradition on its side, why all the problems?

"[Diatessaron: c. 173, a one-volume harmony of the four Gospels, translated and compiled by Tatian the Assyrian into Syriac. **In Syriac speaking churches, it effectively served as the only New Testament scripture until Paul’s Letters were added during the 3rd century. Some believe that Acts was also used in Syrian churches alongside the Diatessaron [citation needed], however, Eusebius’ Ecclesiastical History 4.29.5 states Tatian rejected Paul’s Letters and Acts. In the 4th century, the Doctrine of Addai lists a 17 book NT canon using the Diatessaron and Acts and 15 Pauline Epistles (including 3rd Corinthians). The Diatessaron was eventually replaced in the 5th century by the Peshitta, which contains a translation of all the books of the 27-book NT except for 2 John, 3 John, 2 Peter, Jude and Revelation and is the Bible of the Syriac Orthodox Church where some members believe it is the original New Testament, see Aramaic primacy.

Orthodox Synod in Trullo: in 692, rejected by Pope Constantine, approved Gregory Theologus’ 22 book OT and 26-book NT (excludes Revelation) and the Canons of the Apostles of the Apostolic Constitutions of which Canon #85 [18] is a list of the 27-book OT plus Judith, Sirach, 1-3Maccabees, Didache, 1-2Clement, and 26-book NT (excludes Revelation), and the Apostolic Constitutions which themselves were rejected because they were said to contain heretical interpolations.

Nicephorus: the Patriarch of Jerusalem, 806-815, in a Stichometria [19] appended to the end of his Chronography rejected Esther, Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach, Maccabees, Psalms of Solomon, Enoch, Didache, Barnabas, Hermas, Clement, Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of the Hebrews, 3rd Corinthians, Acts of Paul, Revelation, Apocalypse of Peter."

any form of Christianity outside the Catholic Church is some form of protestantism weather it is an independent or not. Still insufficient source plus. you can every word that report contains because it has been cut off.

Anglican is also a form of Protestantism

You just don’t get it. Do you. It is like a trying to sell me a ketchup popsicle when I am wearing white gloves. It isn’t gonna happen. It just sounds like you are angry at religion in general. Why??? You also seem to attack and say deception if you don’t agree with others beliefs. Why??? Are you angry with God for some reason???

wikipedia is not a legit source

This is the source YOUR apologist note…
and using this same reference to assert that there are divisions in Protestantism, your overlooking the portion where it states that there are 242 Roman Catholic denominations – contrary to the claim that they are one church. It doesn’t matter how many denominations a religion has. If you claim to be one church then we should expect that the count will remain one. But we see 242 denominations for the Roman Catholic Church using the very encyclopedia they use to assert that Sola Scriptura brings about this disunity.

You sit here and defend deceitful manners of apologetics/evangelising and defending the faith and say I don’t get it?

Do you think there is more than 33,000?
doesn’t matter…The source Catholic apologist use for the 33,000 NEVER SAYS that…The point ofthis thread is about deceit.

Not the point, do you deny these facts?
They aren’t from a legit source, so how can I be sure they are facts?? Duh!! I am not stupid. Wikipeida.org has articles that contradict themselves repeatedly because anyone can edit those articles. What don’t you understand about that. Provide a legit source. You can’t. Why are you so angry at Catholics??

Is there ever going to be a point where Catholics stop propagating this falsehood?
Here’s what I said about this, my friend, back in June 2008, post #25. 👍

“Am I getting the feeling there are non-Catholics in this thread who are arguing to the effect of Hey, it’s not 33,000…it’s only 9,000 !!”

Seems more like he is good at not seeing stark reality delivered directly to him…😉
Obviously you need to start reading a Bible and also learn what the Catholic Church teaches on certain subjects or what other denomination teaches on the same subject. I take that statement as a direct insult.

Here’s a good point to make to you Polo since I know you better an know that your a fair debater who doesn’t just quote mine…Aren’t you in the least offended by unsubstantiated forms of apologetics especially when decietful tactics are clear? Doesn’t it give honest workmen like you a black eye so to speak?

Decit from the truth that the Catholic Church is the Church that Christ founded and that he is the body and we are its members??? Or that Catholics are full of decit???
