I’ll agree with you that some posters seem to attribute stereotypical “born again” / fundamentalist beliefs to you without actually hearing them from you. For instance, if I’ve kept track properly (it’s hard for us old folks), someone wrongly attributed to you a belief that one must “accept Jesus into their heart” to be saved. We hear a lot of that around here, so it’s no surprise that somebody assumed that of you, but I’ll agree with you that we shoudln’t sterotype you nor put words in your mouth.

However, that really isn’t the same as referring to the host as a ‘cracker.’ Perhaps you underestimate the emotional impact that has on us. Remember, regardless of what you believe, we believe you are talking about Jesus’ precious body which He offered for our sins.

Also, while it pretty much slid by, the quip about “burning” wasn’t very funny. Many Catholics got burned for their beliefs, you know.

Did it ever occur to you that I might not have gotten carried away and said things I wish I hadn’t if I hadn’t been bombarded with like 20 of you guys all attacking me?

I’m curious, if you went to a Baptist message board and the roles were reversed, how would you act? And don’t try to give me some answer like “I would do the Christlike thing and forgive them” because you’ve been one of the worst attackers.

You guys are dealing with just me. I’m having to deal with all of you.

No, it’s not funny. Unfortunately, it was all too common for the Roman Catholic church afraid of losing their stranglehold on their followers.

He does have a point there. (and I’m not kidding) Our church has had corrupted leaders just like any other denomination. They burned St. Joan of Arc because she said she to talked to God. Just because we are the true church doesn’t mean we don’t have crazy people come along every once in a while.
