Hey thanks guys. I appreciate you suggesting some titles for me. Although those ones seem kinda kiddie.

How is Howl’s Moving Castle? Anyone see that one? I heard the USCCB gave it a good review, which is amazing since they don’t review a lot of foreign movies.

I saw Steamboy some time ago. Didn’t care for it. The animation was good but the story I didn’t really care for. Although it did show the dangers of what could happen should a man put his entire faith in science.

There was another 3d anime movie called Vexille. I haven’t finished it. Some foul language but as long as “GD it” isn’t in there it shouldn’t be too bad.

I don’t mind anime having violence provided it’s not extreme. I just don’t like the way some of it promotes lust. It started off god but has been misused time to time.

I do have one story I wanted to do in mind. Remember that picture I showed you with the two humans and two anthromorphs? It’s gonna be about them. (Although I may leave the fox out.)
Howl’s Moving Castle is WONDERFUL. In fact, you might like all of Miyazaki’s work. I own just about his entire catalogue.

What about Rurouni Kenshin? Plenty of fight action, and I don’t recall too much fanservice, if any. And a great story of love and redemption.

Of course, my all-time fave is Yuu Yuu Hakusho, but some scenes might make you uncomfortable.

Again, I salute you for sticking to your principles.

Hey thanks.

I’m sad to confess yestersay I gave into temptation and I watched a fan-subbed anime. I wish I didn’t do that since the fans had no right to sub and post it.

Anyway the show I watched was Ginga Densetsu Weed. It’s a show about these dogs who are somewhat anthropomorphic. They walk on all fours but they talk like humans do. It’s supposed to be a sequel of another show where a dog named Gin kills an evil bear and later on his mate becomes pregnant and she gives birth to Gin’s son Weed who is an akita breed. My guess this show is a sequel to the old.

Any way Weed’s mother is now sick from starvation so Weed steals a bird from an english settler namerd GB. After being caught Weed begins to cry and tells GB his mother is starving to death. GB feels pity towards the poor puppy and let’s him have the bird. However GB is punished by his pack of dog’s and is sent to hunt a duck. On the way GB and Weed meet again. I only saw 1/3 of the first episode so I can’t really say what else goes on unless I wiki it, though I don’t want to ruin it.

It does seem to be an interesting show but the chances are it’s not coming to the U.S. and I don’t think Japan plans on subbing this one. That’s the problem because that’s only gonna cause fan-subbers to do what they do all the more. Since it’s illegal I’d rather not watch it any further until an official dubbed or subbed version comes out.

There is I hear a lot of cursing. And they don’t hold back on the blood. I thought this would be more of a kids anime but I guess I was wrong there. I’d be a little careful about watching this one.

Still if an official dub or sub was released would you be interested in watching it?

This is a picture of the cast.

That kinda reminds me of Wolf’s Rain–where wolves appear humans but are actually wolves.

oohhh I love anime! Deathnote is probably my favorite, thats where my user name comes from haha. Full Metal Alchemist is another masterpiece.

L like Deathnote? XD I would never have guessed!

I’ve seen a few episode of DN, and read a few volumes of the manga. I find it pretty darn good. I’m one who saw Code Geass first though, so I lean more towards that side of the insanely smart anti-hero world domination genre

I haven’t finished Death Note yet but I know enough to say Light’s a bloody bastard. I actually sympathized strongly with his ideals but certainly with not how he started going about it. -.-;;

Well, being a pretty big anime fan, the letters L and X never mean the letters to me anymore XD Instead, they’re Lawliet and a good CLAMP manga.

Code Geass is one of my favorite series. it’s like, take the veeery basics of Death note, put it into a world of royalty, chivalry, knights, oppression, genocide, rebellion and giant fighting robots. Add in a heavy dose of moral theory, war politics, more characters than you can shake a stick at and one of the best anime endings ever, and you have Code Geass.

Both Light and Lelouch make interesting characters to discuss, because of their ambiguous morality. I’d think Lelouch is just a shade more morally set than Light. I may not have finished DN, but I know how his story goes.

I started watching it thinking light would be the hero of the story but that went down the tubes immediately, i despise light hes such a terrible person lol.

I’m not sure I’d call him intristically evil. From what I’ve seen, he was a high school kid who started with…ok goals, aside from the God of the new world stuff. However, he was already showing rather antisocial behavior and contempt towards the world, so he wasn’t the most stable person to begin with. And power loooves to corrupt, so, so easily…

To be honest, stuff like Code Geass often strike me as uber tragic. I’m more of a slice-of-life type of person. And as much as I loathe admitting this (as in I become akin to a male tsundere), I’m a huge sap for high-school anime romances. Stories like Ichigo 100%, Clannad, Kare Kano, Midori Days, Full Metal Panic, and (most recently) Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu…ugh, I can’t help it… so sweet… TwT

Now I wouldn’t recommend any of these to those on here but sighs nothing gets me in a hopeless romantic mood better than this stuff. TwT

Oh it is. But I love it for it. I’m an angst magnet. I mean, come on- my favorite series is about the Biblical apocalypse where no less than half the cast dies. Unless it’s the movie. In which case, EVERYONE dies.

Slice of life isn’t much for me, but I squeed my way through Lucky Star for reasons I can’t understand. I’ve also seen several reviews on Midori Days that have peaked my interest.

Code Geass and Death Note… hmmm…
I actually enjoyed watching the train wreck of Code Geass as much as I enjoyed watching Gundam 00. Shockingly though, I watched the 2nd season of Code Geass without watching the 1st season… I just read about the plot out of curiosity and decided to watch it for it’s entertainment value. 👍

In any case it might interest people here that in a recent online poll, Newtype Magazine released a list of the most popular male and female anime character’s of the year 2000 and guess who’s on top.

In the male section the top 10 are:
1)Lelouch Lamperouge 2)Kira Yamato 3)Athrun Zala 4)Edward Elric 5)Kyon 6)Echizen Ryoma 7)Shibuya Yuuri 8)Sakata Gintoki 9)Sagara Sousuke and 10)Hei

In the female section it’s:
1)Cagalli Yula 2)Lacus Clyne 3)Sheryl Nome 4)Nagato Yuki 5)Haruhi Suzumiya 6) C.C. 7)Shinguji Sakura 8)Shinku 9)Senjougahara Hitagi 10)Saber

Since it’s Newtype, I guess the leaning of the respondents would most likely be for Mecha anime characters. Didn’t realize though that SEED was that popular… I mean Kira Yamato wth!! I mean Kamina or Shimon didn’t even make it in the top 25!

It’s nice to see Gintoki and Hitagi get a top 10 though 👍
I liked there 80s and 90s list better. 🙂 especially the 80s top 5 with Lupin, Char, Ranma, Amuro and Goku.
Here’s the list if you’re interested.

Call me a girl with no taste in mecha or shounen, but I’m one of the few who doesn’t call CG a trainwreck. I’ve seen people say, Yeah, it’s great, if you know you’re not suppose to take the melodrama seriously!

…to which I feel like I missed the Point, because I found the drama very effective.

But ANYway, Lelouch is a pretty darn well written character, and extremely interesting, so I’m not surprised. Little sad for the lack of Kallen on the list.

Well, at least I can I can understand why and how people can like it. Thanks for the insight. :o

LOL! I like Lucky Star too. XD I love shows that poke fun at the otaku culture without coming off as crazy or condescending. XD I try to emulate some of that humor myself in my own stories.

There’s another show like Lucky Star that’s more realistic but still funny. It’s called Genshiken. sighs The awkwardness of the Japanese geek subculture never ceases to humor me. (Even though at least half of me belongs to it. :o)

I like it for more than the angst, don’t get me wrong. I love Code Geass for it’s take on war politics, and how by the end of it, you really don’t know who’s the hero and who’s the villain. I mean, it doesn’t just do Anti Villain and Anti Hero, it goes far past that, to the point that some people have theorized that Lelouch is the Villain and his alter ego Zero in the hero, which…is a total mind-cluck, but interesting.

And the characters, man. I love large casts of characters. The only one of the bunch I don’t find intrigueing is Rolo, who can bite me.

ANYway, LS was just…adorable. Konata as just too funny.

Head of Genshieken, have not seen it. You’ll soon see that while I know a lot about different anime, I’ve really seen very little. In fact, I’m pretty sure this thread would run me out if I listed off the anime I HAVEN’T seen
