Initially, I was a little offended but… yeah gloomy aura forms some of the things I’ve seen were… sighs

On the other hand, I’ll take stuff like that over junk like Family Guy or Spongebob Squarepants.

I agree there are some pretty nasty anime serieses out there. The difference is cultural however. In japan anime is actually an accepted form of expressing ideas, while most westerners would shrug it off as ‘cartoons’.

It annoys me people think i like ‘kawaii’ anime (‘cute anime’) when I watch stuff liek Paranoia Agent, Ghost in the Shell, Berserk (movie remakes coming out YES!) and other more serious anime.

I’m under the impression that it’s widely known among the US Type-Moon fandom that the sex scenes are only in there to help sell the game because no one buys visual novels for the story…which is a shame because I actually really like the Type-Moon stories. I’ve read a version of Tsukihime where the game “fades to black” (but you can see the situation coming) and it’s just **painful **how those situations are just forced into the story. It really really is. Not that I want to read that stuff anyway but the buildup just screams “this was a total chore that had to be done”.

Granted the Fate anime handled that one “sex scene” (it’s questionable whether they actually did anything) rather hilariously via CG dragon. 😛

Indeed, it does seem like that. I do find the whole mana-sex connection to be rather obscure, if not cheap. It just goes to show you that sex really does have a limited place in telling a story (as opposed to violence where there’s always a good reason for a fight :p).

Indeed, that scene was seriously half-baked between two options. I’d rather they’d either just create a new way for Servants to regenerate mana in the anime or take a simple fade-to-black with a sort of after glow scene so it’ll at least be faithful to the original.

But nooo… -.- They had to titillate the audience first then prank 'em with the CG dragon. sighs and facepalms Good Lord people, make up your minds.

I enjoy the Fate/Stay series but I tend to ignore the sex in it as off as that may sound. In fact I wanted to skip the sex so I could watch Emiya and Gilgamesh exchange blows. The story itself aint bad (there is a psp game where you play a Master and choose one of three heros, Archer, Saber and a Caster from Japanese mythology. Game plays like ‘rock paper, scissors’ type combat but its enjoyabl AND has no sex in it.)

A funny story from the world of manga, Kouta Hirano, writer of Hellsing and lesser known Drifters, originally startedo ut as a hentai mangaka (in fact Pip Bernadotte’s model and character are right out of a porno manga where the Major was a german officer).
 
After suffering through BAD subtitles (Prince of Tennis. Ack.), I need to know:

Where does this stuff come from and why?

The anime where you can select either Chinese or ‘English’ subtitles, but in the main, it doesn’t really matter because they are both incomprehensible.

I know rite? Personally though, my favorite scene in the anime version was when Archer fought Beserker. UBW FTW!!!

It’s not that surprising really. From my experience, I give 50/50 odds that an ecchi manga artist published hentain doujin/manga prior to going professional (and some of them still do, look at Oh! Great of Air Gear). It’s weird though because Ken Akamatsu (one of the most popular ecchi artists I know) is one of the other 50 who haven’t (at least, not to the extent of my google searching).

Who is the distributor of your DVD?

I forget where we bought these but I did some research, and yes, evidently, these are BOOTLEGS. No more of them for me. The only reason I got that version of POT is because the Funi version does NOT have the original Japanese music. Must. Has. Musiks.

What would we call the new thread? 😃

It kinda proves that buying pirated isn’t always the best. I should know. Watching pirated stuff on my PC puts it at risk for viruses. 😛
