I find the medium to have questionable ethics. It may lead many developing Christians astray by promoting revisionist history and pagan ethics.

It’s entertainment, not a moral authority. I personally watch anime for its literary value. I don’t use it as a basis for my morals. :rolleyes:

Hiei!

Squee.

As for ‘the medium’ having questionable ethics, you might as well say that of books, television, radio, plays, paintings, and any other medium.

Anime is a medium, not a philosophy. There will be differing values presented. It is up to us to sift trash from treasure.

Yes, without doubt, some of ALL of the above is trash. But books also contain the Bible; paintings also contain the Passion, and so on.

We should start our own Catholic meme center or something…cuz lurking can lead to trouble…

Everyday I am thankful our God is not a high school girl with an overactive imagination.

OHMYGOSH! I forgot about Haruhi. yes I too am grateful for this. I enjoyed the first couple volumes of the series but I feel guilty watching it because of the uhhh… way Haruhi ummm…is uhh SO friendly with her female friend from the future…(can’t remember name…)

I’ve recently delved into 20th Century Boys - the first two movies that is as I’m just through the first volume. One thing that struck me is how Tomodachi/‘Friend’ is pretty much stereotypically Anti-Christ like (come on! He even ‘dies’ and ‘resurrects’ himself for corn’s sake; as if that isn’t a blatant reference to Revelation 13:3-4! :rolleyes:).

So, now for another shameless bump!

Oh yes! A big, glorious AMEN to that! DX
Haruhi’s pretty hot and very moe, I’ll admit. Her attitude though, is certainly not something I’d desire in real people. >.>;;

Frankly, she intimidates me. >-<;;

sighs Why can’t find girls like her nowadays? >_<;;
Lord why!? (ToT)

On the contrary. One thing I like about anime is that the characters often have very real and humanized personalities (sometimes even the zany ones :whacky:).
Good point. However, I’ll admit that I also like anime, partly because some of these often show ideal situations which are difficult to occur in real life unless one really makes an effort (heck, everyday I go to school I wish that it was one of those schools in anime where you never have to worry about bullying or your test grades! :p).

Oh yeah. I have fantasies about that too! ;w; Heck I don’t even dream of good grades all the time. Sometimes, I just imagine situations where numbers on a report card are meaningless. (Apocalyptic scenarios anybody? How about a rough and tough secret job that just so happens to bring on lots moolah without needing a diploma?) 😛

As for bullying, I actually wouldn’t mind… so as long as said bullies turn yellow at the sight of me and I can threaten them with killer-bishie stares like Sephiroth does. :cool:

There are plenty of school bullies in anime, don’t worry.

Hey guys, quick question.

Do any of you follow a currently running manga? (Be it via buying volumes, online scanlations etc).

Here’s just a few of what I’ve been following. 🤷

Naruto
D.Gray-man
Air Gear
Mahou Sensei Negima
Air Gear

Yuu Yuu Hakusho. But at the rate they’re releasing, it’ll be years… 😛

And there you have an example of school bully turned series hero.

HOLY [explicative deleted]!!!

And everyone thought he was just there for comic relief…
For a moment there I thought I was gonna run into a spoiler. Give us a warning next time man! >_>;;

But in all seriousness, I never thought the guy was just purely comic relief. He is a Taichou after all. 😛 Remember how he easily pwned Chad?

I stopped reading though. I still have a lot to catch up on in Bleach. >_>;;
