I haven’t watched Bleach since they had that huge and pointless fan service episode in July where all the shinigami and Ichigo’s friends were in bathing suits.

Nice to know that the filler that they’re in right now is better but I WANT to see Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra.

Yeah, that was…well, I chalk that episode up to just being Japanese anime.

No this filler arc is “fanservice” of the “correct” kind. You know how everyone wants to see more of whatever character is their favorite and the like? That’s basically this arc. Kira is awesome, Renji actually uses his head for once, Byakuya is his normal holier-than-though self, and there’s finally some sort of character developement to Vice-captain Sasakibe (we find out what power his sword has, that is). Sure, there are plot holes that remain to be filled, but contrasting it to the plotkai situation happening in the manga, it’s pretty good.

If there’s any anime I’m looking forward to now, it’s the re-do of Neon Genisis Evangelion. If you didn’t know about it already, it’s a redo of the series, television and movies, compressed and redone the way the author (forget the name) really wanted it to be made. My hope is newcomers to the series can be sober and still understand and appreciate the ending.

I’m liking the movies so far, some changes but still good

Trigun, GunXSword, Boccano, Azumanga Daio. And I have to admit Naruto. I actually think the manga is quite deep, and has great fight scenes. The anime is OK, except the dub they have on Cartoon Network makes my ears bleed. Last Exile is one of the most beautiful things out there, including the art, music, and story. Also, anything by Miyazaki is good. My siblings are way more into anime than I am, so they just tell me what they like, and I sit back and watch it. I can’t keep up with it all myself O_o

Frankly, the only thing close to Naruto I’ve seen is the character Black Star. Then again, he’s not even the main character. I’m still on Chapter 3 of the manga but I feel that this was more of a derivation of Naruto, Erementar Gerad (sp?), and Disgaea. It’s pretty good so far actually. I would describe it as being very derivative in an original way. I mean once you take bits and pieces of different things, it’s like you’re making your own original collage.

Also, I find Death the Kidd to be quite a hilarious bloke for a bishounen. XD

Im not sure if I’ve posted here yet (sorry if I have,feel free to delete my post if I did.) I love anime.
Some of my favorites would have to be: Bleach (my all time favorite!),Naruto/Naruto Shippuden,Prince of Tennis,Gunslinger Girls,Code Geass/Code Geass R2,Death Note,The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,Fate/Stay Night, and a ton of others that would take me forever to list. Im just glad Im not the only one on the forum who likes anime.😃
 
I wanted to check out Wolf’s Rain (because for some reason I like wolves and would like to draw them) but I heard there was nudity in it. I heard it was in the manga. Is it? If it is then I’m not watching it or reading the manga. I don’t like how they potray that kind of stuff in anime and I think it should stay off it.
 
AKIRA is the greatest anime movie ever made!.. next to the TRANSFORMERS animated movie…

In anime and manga both, there’s nudity and nudity.

In the opening episode of the anime GaoGaiGar, a loving but childless couple find a naked little baby boy, anatomically correct. They adopt him and name him Mamoru. Nothin’ wrong with that sort of nudity.

Then there’s comedic-value nudity, like one character walking in on another’s bathtime. Sometimes questionable, not always objectionable.

Then there’s the sleazy type. I have NO idea about WR, never having seen it.

Funny how people tend to mix comedic-value nudity with sleazy type. Then again, I don’t mind that kind fan service as long as it’s not over the top (and has the perv, accidental or not, getting pwned silly XD).

Then there’s also a darker type of nudity which is done for the sake of cynical realism. These are usually found in anime/manga that are set in dingy, dog-eat-dog societies. You’d usually find these things only in seinen.

    The silver-haired samurai protagonist of the alien occupied, late edo-period Japan.
2a) Senjougahara Hitagi (Bakemonogatiri)
2b) Horo the wise wolf (Spice and Wolf)
A toss up between two of the best female protagonists in the 2008-2009 anime season.
  1. Can’t decide between Makoto Shishio (Kenshin) and Toguro (Yu Yu Hakusho)
    Just because I fondly remember both when looking back to my younger years.

Regarding anime, I’ve been watching anime since I was a young-un so I have followed a lot of genres already. Particular memorable ones for me for sentimental reasons are Evangelion, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball and Slam Dunk.

My current unranked top 5 would be:
Gintama
Mushishi
Planetes
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
One Piece

I also have a soft spot for the Gundam franchise as I’ve liked every incarnation except for the SEED universe. I particularly liked Zeta and for some weird reason Turn A.

I’m currently following:
Bakemonogatiri
Cross Game
Tegami Bachi

and Vagabond (manga)

Well that partly answers my question, I guess. I don’t expect it to be like pornography but nonetheless I don’t like nudity. I remember watching a show called Blue Gender and I probably would watch more of it but in the credits they showed a woman completely naked walking. Right after that I stopped and I don’t plan on ever watching that show again. It had an interesting story and watching that could have helped me to improve my drawings, but to me, nudity just kills everything when it comes to anime, since a lot of things in anime tend to be sleazy. And I don’t nudity used for comedic value. There are other things that are funny in anime, like some guys girlfriend beating him with a mallet or kendo stick.

Although I still ask anyone else who has seen Wolf’s Rain, does this show have nudity in it? If yes than I don’t want to watch it.

Sorry, haven’t seen wolf’s rain either so I can’t give my (name removed by moderator)ut on that.

Regarding nudity, as far as I know regular broadcast TV anime isn’t allowed nudity so if you’re watching it from the telly I doubt there will be. Full DVD versions of select ones may have that sort especially if they’re in the ecchi genre.

Which brings me to the question, to which degree of nudity can you stand and of what context of nudity will be acceptable to you? The furthest an anime to DVD version could go would be a bare chest with the details, anything other than that would be adult ones.

Fan-service is another topic in itself though as most modern anime will have some sort of fan-service injected in it.

Personally, I don’t mind the occasional fan-service/semi-nudity as long as it’s not the main attraction of the show and it’s done sparsely. An engaging premise and a good storyline is my priority so I tend to avoid the more overt harem romantic comedies since this genre would have the most pervyness.

Yeah, Green Eye Guy Hiei is a little peculiar. 😛

I sort of replied above about the nudity thing. Naked little baby boy, big deal, part of everyday life.

Comedic nudity, all right, I’ve laughed at that when it was suggested rather than hitting you between the eyes. “He walked in on my bath therefore I break this vase over his head!”

Transformational nudity (Sailor Moon, Digimon) is sort of symbolic, doesn’t bother me that much.

They can keep the rest.

When Hiei first appears, they call that ugly multi-eyed green thing his “true form” but then he never uses it again the entire series. 😛 I guess they fortunately realized pretty quick how ridiculous that looked…
 
Yup. Green Eyeball Guy Hiei, alter ego of Bad Crank Hiei. :rotfl:

But they did use that design again for the YYH movie.
 
On a completely random note, someone should make one of those fan-made “Which [Blank] is you?” for finding which anime waifu suits you best.
