Pretty nice drawings!

… But as an animation student who has taken storyboarding classes, I can’t help but point out that you’ve broken the 180-degree rule several times in both of those pages… =3

Just letting you know…
Thanks, but what the 180 degree rule?

If you click on this link…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/180_degree_rule
it’ll take you to a wikipedia page that gives the jist of what it is. Pretty much it’s a rule for camera angles in film (and comics) that makes sure the audience doesn’t lose track of where characters and sets are placed in a scene.

I like those movies, Belle.

What’s interesting to me is, as much as East Asians are so pleased by blonde hair and blue eyes, you don’t see such characters as heros or even on the hero’s team. You see more red haired characters. Was that another generation replaced by non-closet Aryans? What’s that red hair (or orange, in Ichigo’s case) thing about? Is that the new blonde hair there, now?

I think its common knowledge among enthusiasts that hair color (coupled with hairstyle) is one way to distinguish characters from each other. Its also another device that helps indicate their personality to the reader/watcher.

These guys

and these gals

would object to your statement though haha. 🙂

Granted that the last ones to the right of those 2 groups aren’t really “heroes” per se, the remaining guys and gals can hold up against the best of them. In fact three people in the collective group are leaders of their Galactic Space Fleet. 👍

Also you missed the most obvious blue-eyed blondie (at least most popular) ----- Uzumaki Naruto. I don’t like the show though so no pictures for him. Hahaha

OK, I forgot about them. I was just thinking about heros like Ichigo, the main guy from S’cry’d, the main guy from Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin Himura, Goku and really all good guys from “DBZ”, Full Metal Panic, The main guy from Big O (Roger-something), the star of “One Piece,” Inuyasha (in human form) and Kagome, to name some. Those are a lot of black and red haired (are they fascinated by red hair, as many supporting good guy cast members have red hair) hero characters.

Wait a minute, Wieber? He’s a good soldier I’ll give you that but… a hero? (Where’s Mao when you need her? :rolleyes:)
Aww… kawaii… ^w^

Now, I see…

Winry (Full Metal Alchemist)
Maka-chan (Soul Eater)
Saber-chan (Fate/Stay Night)

Oh come now, the recent chapters show him to be really mature… somewhat. ^^;
Sasuke on the other hand… :rolleyes:

Ah anyways, I can’t believe people ignored these other fine examples of non-redheads. For instance, take the popular girl band of K-On!. 😃

The Dragon Lady we know as Suzumiya Haruhi… >_>;;

And finally, her Grand Otakuness Herself… Konata-sama!!! X3

@lostwanderer,

FoolishMortal mentioned heroes or on the hero’s team so Kurz was counted :D. Also, I didn’t slight the other colored hair anime characters I just replied to the fact the Blonde/Blue-eyed characters are pretty much as heroic as others. In fact they’re mostly stereotyped as royalty (or British, or American for that matter). 🙂

Anyway, you say K-on I say Aria which I prefer more than that moe-blob show.

Also, when it comes to heroic groups with non-standard hair, I have to go with one of my top groups, Gintama’s Yorozuya Three. 🙂

I wasn’t complaining of a lack of blondes or lack of status of any. I’m brown-haired and green-eyed, so what do I care?. It was just interesting, because you hear how they think, or used to think, that’s so cool in East Asia.

I know, I know.

I think it’s just normal for the Japanese show fascination to foreign culture given that they were isolated from other countries for so long. Stereotypes also come in to play because of it and that’s what makes the way they portray other races interesting and somewhat funny at least to me.

Sonova, I missed the *umpteenth *discussion about hentai…

Maybe the Japanese are as fascinated by the foreign, exotic, and bizarre as we are. Except, of course, they don’t tattoo misspelled words on their bodies in a foreign script, that I know of.

Black characters almost always have fros, except Tosen from Bleach. He is supposed to be black, right?

Actually, you’re fairly wrong their as well. Scar from Full Metal Alchemist is black and his hair is normal.

Then there’s also Bob from Tenjou Tenghe and Buccha from Air Gear.

Scar is not black. Where did you get that impression?

There is however a black librarian or military sec in FMA. Her hair is fairly normal.

Hmm I guess, in most cases, I don’t have time to catch anime not played on Cartoon Network.

I think you should know by now that the internet is the best place for your anime resources and not TV. 😛 There’s only so much even a full-time anime channel (e.g. Animax) can offer. 😉

I just don’t have time and existing series and past series have too many episodes.

That’s a bit tricky. Define “too many episodes”. I just finished watching The Sacred Blacksmith which was only 12 episodes long (a shame too since it was pretty decent). That’s as short an anime season can get as far as I’ve experienced.

Unless of course you’re talking OVAs.
