Is this scriptural…

The antichrist is a group
from the beginning of Christianity
Who call themselves “Christian”
But are possibly
conservatives
and
liberals
Who say they want unity
But work together to
Perpetuate division willingly

And so

Divide
The Way to Perfect Happiness
From
Perfect Happiness?

No. Not unless Jesus was wrong with all the talk of being One.

From the Catholic Encyclopedia:

St. John supposes in his Epistles that the early Christians are acquainted with the teaching concerning the coming of Antichrist. “You have heard that Antichrist cometh” (1 John 2:18); “This is Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he cometh” (1 John 4:3). Though the Apostle speaks of several Antichrists, he distinguishes between the many and the one principal agent: “Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists” (1 John 2:18). Again, the writer outlines the character and work of Antichrist: “They went out from us, but they were not of us” (1 John 2:19); “Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denies the Father, and the Son” (1 John 2:22); “And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus, is not of God; and this is Antichrist” (1 John 4:3); “For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an Antichrist” (2 John 7). Also the time, the Apostle places the coming of Antichrist at “the last hour” (1 John 2:18); again he maintains that “he is now already in the world” (1 John 4:3).

Asking if conservative Christians are the antichrist shows how little we as Catholics really know. Those who deny that Christ came in the flesh are the spirit of antichrist. This comes right from the Bible. Conversely those who deny that Jesus is God would also be the spirit of antichrist. Those groups who deny the Deity of Christ are Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. I guess you should include liberal Christians. Since Christ is perfect how could you change what he taught. Conservative Christians are not of the antichrist. I do wish they would have a better understanding of the Eucharist though.

So from a Catholic perspective…

The Antichrist is a name Catholics use
To describe an ongoing group and its principle
Who claim to be a faithful part of a religion
But
In reality,
Deny God
And
Create and sustain division?

Please Google Yves Dupont. He wrote a book concerning Catholic prophecy. You will see he wroe the blook to discount the fact that Communism isn’t the antichrist and that the antichrist is one specific person who will come in the last days, At the very least the anabaptists also have the same belief of the antichrist. A recent writing by Ephraem the Syrian recently translated into English gives specifics about the antichrist. When you do the search. look for Chuck Missler or Grant Jeffreys. The one thing that astonished me is from reading about Catholic prophcy fromold Catholic writings. There will be two evil people at the end of the age. The one is the one that LeHaye in his books about Left Behind got confused with. Indeed there will be a European who is described much like Nero. There will, however, be another evil person arising out of the East from the tribe of Dan who will actually be the antichrist. He will kill the one like Nero. The antichrist will do marvelous and wonderful things. He will even levitate in the air. It is interesting that we will always are told we will be rescued form the wrath. Ephraem the Syrian says we will be rescued from the confusion-the wrath comes later. Read Matthew 24:24 where Jesus warns us about this dilemna.Let us pray that there will be a provision for us during these days. It will be horrible days for the real believers. Interestingly the only other group that will stand up to this man will be the Muslims. Pray and pray hard for yourself and your family.

The antichrist is reference to any anti-Christian person or religion, but the Antichrist is one who will come right before the 2nd coming of Christ at the end of the world, who will lead people away from the truth and will seek to glorify man while denouncing God. Here is my article that I wrote on the Antichrist litteralchristianlibrary.wetpaint.com/page/The+Antichrist

Could you quote more scripture on the Antichrist?

Are we trying to turn the tables? For centuries the Pope was considered the Antichrist; and still is in some circles. Now are we saying that Non-Catholics are the Antichrist? LOL! The Church speaks of the “Seperated Brethern,” but it never references Non-Catholics as the Antichrist. 😃

St John’s Gospel from the very beginning seems to be addressing gnostic sects that were ,and still do, try to undermine the authority that is established by direct physical contact with Jesus.

That would be all Christians who speak against the authority passed down by that physical human contact between God and the Apostles. The means by which one would undermine that conduit would be to teach that the Second Person of the trinity wasn’t really flesh or wasn’t really God. The dualism of Plato that permeates gnostic thought easily concocts relatively refined theology to that effect.

I think that by the time St John wrote his Gospel the seeds of those types of groups were just sown or they had already become a danger to the faithfull. Perhaps even the reason St John was inspired to write.

Benadam seems to be onto something here. St John was addressing the gnostic heresy. The gnostics were docetists, which is a 5 cent word that basically means that they believed that Jesus only seemed to be among us in the flesh.
They would also have said that Jesus only appeared to suffer and die on the cross; when in fact, according to their heretical views, he did not. For John this was “antichrist,” which means someone who stands in opposition to God’s Anointed One.

I agree with Benadam.

The letter written by Saint John was in defense
of a growing heresy that was developing.
Jesus was both flesh and divine. Camps
were arising where they were preaching
one or the other and not both.
These people who were going in that direction
were not of the Father, and therefore
not of the Son, according to John. They were
“anti.”

The cross reference of 1 John is over to Paul’s
Second Letter to the Thessalonians.
What is interesting here in Chapter 2,
there must have been a lost source document
written by a direct disciple that Paul
was referencing. There seems to be a
confusion in the congregation as to
which documents to believe and which
documents not to believe.
Paul says…Hey, just listen to what
I have to say.(vs.15)

Paul I think has a better way of putting it
…he is the lawless one.
The one doomed to perdition who seats himself
in the temple of God…
(This coming from a lost source document?)
The temple (I personally believe) is not any building.
The temple is within the soul of
willing and fooled and ignorant homo sapians.

So as Catholics,
We believe Jesus Christ is
100% God
And
100% human

Freemasons are often considered gnostics.

Did this group exist before Jesus Christ?
Maybe under a different name?

My father is a mason. He’s earned the highest degree that
there is. I forget what that is. He’s the treasurer of their
local and some other office (I forget) with the regional in his
state.
I can ask him. I can tell you, though, he is very religious
following the Protestant faith all his life and of late attends
the Quaker church. He believes in 100% both mystery.

Please read what General Albert Pike a Confederate General admitted about the Masons. It’s not good. The Knights of Columbus were found in opposition to the Masons. The Catholic Church I believe denies the Eucharist to any members who belong to the Masons. I attended one church- the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey (a very large church) denied membership to any Mason.

Also read about a gentleman named Adam Weishaupt. I believe he had soemthing to do with the start of the Masons. He seemed to be even more evil than Hitler or Stalin.I don’t mean to offend anyone but would be more offended in the near future if I didn’t tell you.
